Today, I had a very had luck. I was fighting for fun with some classmates after physical education. I wave my arm with such great strong that my watch got loose and flew off my wrist! Just then, some girls were passing by and a flying watch hit one girl’s mouth exactly, these two teeth were knocked off. My mother was called in to deal the matter. We made an apology to the girl but took her to hospital to treat my wound.

I was teaching a great lesson in this incident. I shouldn’t have been made sudden and strong actions. From now on, I’ll take care to do anything, acting quiet and carefully!

所以my改成her。 “我”和“教会”之间是被动关系,所以用被动语态。 “我”和“做”之间是主动关系,所以用主动语态。 用副词修饰动词。

Exercise is a way of keeping the body healthy through being active. Another name for exercise is physical fitness. Most people exercise in their spare time. Sports are some of the most popular ways to get exercise.

The two main kinds of exercise are aerobic exercise(有氧运动)and anaerobic exercise (无氧运动).Sports such as football and basketball are great forms of exercise 1.

Aerobic exercise is energetic movement that lasts for a certain period of time. 2.The lungs and the heart work harder to bring in extra oxygen. Swimming, cycling, running and rapid walking are good examples of aerobic exercise.

Anaerobic exercise is a powerful burst of movement followed by a period of rest. During anaerobic exercise the muscles need more energy than the body can make with its supply of oxygen. After the exercise a person feels out of breath because the muscles have worked without oxygen. 3.

Exercise affects every part of the body in positive ways. It improves balance and coordination (协调). 4.Exercise strengthens the heart and increases the lungs′ ability to take in oxygen. Through exercise the bones and muscles get stronger, and the whole body becomes healthy and strong.

5.People who exercise generally have a more positive, happy attitude.

A. This is because they combine both of these types.

B. Frequent and regular exercise helps prevent diseases.

C. Exercise also gives people a greater feeling of well-being.

D. It also improves posture, or the resting position of the body.

E. Weight lifting ,jumping, and golfing are all types of anaerobic exercise.

F. Physical exercise can contribute positively to keeping a healthy weight.

G. During aerobic exercise the body combines oxygen with sugar to get more energy.

Mya Le Thai is a scientist studying at the University of California, Irvine. She recently discovered a process that may result in batteries that last forever. Thai said she had been discouraged that the batteries for her wireless devices degrade. Over time, they fail to charge fully.

Thai did not like to have keep her wireless laptop connected to an electrical outlet. She decided to do something about that problem.

At first, she and her team thought about inventing a new battery. But as they experimented, Thai discovered something that might permit lithium-ion(锂离子) batteries to last forever. Lithium-ion batteries power most wireless devices. Over time, the batteries lose the ability to hold a charge. Most of these batteries have a life span of about 7,000 charging cycles before they die.

One of the reasons lithium-ion batteries degrade is their use of nanowires(纳米线) to carry electricity. Nanowires are extremely thin. A human hair is thousands of times thicker, for example. Nanowires are extremely efficient carriers of electricity, which makes them useful in batteries. But Thai said their thinness also makes them weak. "Nanowires break over time," she said. "That's why they lose capacity."

But, Thai had a theory: The nanowires might last longer if covered with a material. She and the team tested her theory. The team tried many coverings for the wires. PMMA was one of them. The nanowires were coated with PMMA and cycled through charges 200,000 times. The PMMA coated nanowires showed no evidence of damage. The results suggest that batteries could last forever, without losing charging ability.

Thai hopes to continue her research to understand why this material works so well and to see if any other material could create better results.

"It's kind of cool," she said. "I'm really glad people are showing interest in my work and not just in the work itself, but also in technology and energy."

1.What caused Thai to do research on the batteries?

A. Weak power of the batteries    B. Her preference for batteries

C. Inconvenient use of batteries    D. Her habit to use her computer

2.What’s the disadvantage of lithium-ion batteries?

A. They have a certain service life    B. They need charging very often

C. They are not quite dependable    D. They are easy to break down

3.Why did Thai try covering the nanowires with a certain material?

A. To make them thicker    B. To carry more electricity

C. To make them safer to use    D. To protect them from being damaged

4.What can be a suitable title for the text?

A. All Batteries Would Be Replaced By Long-Last Ones

B. Lithium-ion Batteries Might Come to an End

C. Batteries That Last Forever Could Be Near

D. Batteries Would Work Without Recharging

Lots of people like a good fright at Halloween. Yet, the most frightening thing of all about the night is that twice as many children are killed while out and about on Hallween compared to any other day of the year, according to a study by Safe Kids Worldwide. It can also be a worrying time for others, especially elderly people living alone. Bu many people think it’s just harmless fun.

But is it harmless fun?

Police forces across Britain are giving warnings about Halloween night. They are asking all those wishing to celebrate Halloween this year to respect those who don’t want to join in.

Some forces, like West Mercia Police, have produced “Sorry, No Trick or Treat” posters which can be downloaded from their website, and put up in windows. They want people to send them to the old or anyone who may be frightened by ghosts()knocking on their doors.

A spokesman said: “Children should not call on houses where the posters are put up, neither should they call on strangers, as this can put young people at risk and also make some house owners anxious, especially those who are elderly or living alone.”

The police want all trick or treaters to remember that disturbing other people or throwing objects at their homes or cars are all criminal offences(刑事罪). “What may start off as a bit of fun could end up with someone getting a criminal record,” they warn. “Parents may want to consider having a Halloween party at home, instead.”

Kent Police are warning young people never to go into the home of someone they don’t know----and to remember not to frighten people.

Warwickshire Police are also warning that tricks may seem like harmless fun but can cause trouble to others. They say behaviour such as throwing eggs can quickly cross the line between being anti-social and causing criminal damage. This can result in fines of £2,500 for small offences.
