Dear Editor, I’m a senior high school student. It’s reported that in China many children in mountainous areas still have no access to school because of poverty. Last week, our class held a discussion about how to help them to go to school and live a happy childhood. Here are our suggestions. First and foremost, some old textbooks and clothes can be collected and sent to those children so that they can be reused. As far as I’m concerned, we should save some of our pocket money and give it to those children in need. What’s more, it’s also very important to appeal to more people and social organizations to help and care for those poor children. Above all, we should give them respect, never looking down upon them because they are poor. We would appreciate it if you can, through the Teens, increase public awareness of the poor children’s living conditions and call on more people to help them. It’s reported that in China many children in mountainous areas still have no access to school because of poverty. 非谓语动词never looking down upon them. it’s also very important to appeal to和We would appreciate it if you can句型,have no access to,increase public awareness, call on等词汇及First and foremost, As far as I’m concerned, What’s more, Above all 等连接词。

Recently, as the development of the Internet, there is a kind of language calling the Web Language. The other day our class had a discussion about if we should welcome the Web Language.

Forty percent of the students think it ridiculous. They argue that it did no good to helping people communicate, nor is it useful for learning languages. Beside, it'll make Chinese less standard and pure, finally ruining our mother tongue. However, 69% of the students is fond of it. They think it simple, convenient and helpful in expressing them. What's more, it may make the language more interested.

Personally, it’s not good habit to use the Web Language. It may be popular, but you may also make yourself be misunderstood.

1.   2.

Nobody likes to talk about death, but the reality is that everybody is going to die at one point. None of us know the day, or the hour. Therefore, today is all we have. Don’t go to your grave with unfulfilled dreams. Make the decision to go after every dream, big or small right now.

2. The world is waiting on your gift.

I know this may be hard to believe, but the world is waiting on YOU! Yes, YOU!   3. Sure, other people may be able to sing. But they’ll never be able to sing exactly like you. Sure other people can write, but they’ll never be able to write from the same perspective in which you write. Don’t deprive the world of your gift. It’s the oxygen that we need to survive. Thus, it is your responsibility to figure out exactly what your gift is, and use to better your life and the lives of those around you.

3.   4.

You can dream about writing the great American play that you want, but it’s never going to happen unless you actually put pen to paper. You can dream about finding a cure for cancer, but it will never happen unless you actually go to school to become equipped with the necessary tools to find that cure.   5. The behavior of a building's users may be at least as important as its design when it comes to energy use, according to new research from the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC). The UK promises to reduce its carbon emissions (排放)by 80 percent by 2050, part of which will be achieved by all new homes being zero carbon by 2016. But this report shows that sustainable building design on its own—though extremely important—is not enough to achieve such reductions: the behavior of the people using the building has to change too.

The study suggests that the ways that people use and live in their homes have been largely ignored by existing efforts to improve energy efficiency, which instead focus on architectural and technological developments.

“Technology is going to assist but it is not going to do everything,”explains Katy Janda, a UKERC senior researcher, “consumption patterns of building users can defeat the most careful design.” In other words, old habits die hard, even in the best designed eco home.

Another part of the problem is information. Households and bill payers don't have the knowledge they need to change their energy use habits. Without specific information, it's hard to estimate the costs and benefits of making different choices. Feedback(反馈) facilities, like smart meters and energy monitors, could help bridge this information gap by helping people see how changing their behavior directly affects their energy use; some studies have shown that households can achieve up to 15 percent energy savings using smart meters.

Social science research has added a further dimension, suggesting that individuals' behavior in the home can be personal and cannot be predicted—whether people throw open their windows rather than turn down the thermostat (恒温器) , for example.

Janda argues that education is the key. She calls for a focused program to teach people about buildings and their own behavior in them.

B. The necessity of making a careful building design.

C. The variety of consumption patterns of building users.

D. The role of technology in improving energy efficiency.

4.The information gap in energy use________.
