Last Monday, we were having our Chinese class while the teacher suddenly slip and fell. We were all worried about her. One of the boy carried her on the back, under the help of some others, to the clinic immediately. It turned out that her right leg was breaking and she had to stay in hospital. The following day, we went to visit her with flowers and fruit. Seeing her laying in bed with leg wrapped in bandages, we felt sorry for her and hoped that she would recover soon. Lucky enough, this Thursday she returned back to the class in a wheelchair to give us lessons. We were both deeply moved and proud of having such a responsible teacher.

_1.__You probably think you will never be a top student. This is not necessarily so ,however. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here is how.
Plan your time carefully.
When planning your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making the list, you should make a schedule of your time. First arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then decide a good, regular time for studying.__ 2._ A weekly schedule may not solve all the problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.
Find a good place to study.
Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this place, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios or TV!When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.
Make good use of your time in class.
__3._ Good listening habit in class means less work later. Taking class notes will help you remember what the teacher says.
Study regularly.
When you get home from schools, go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher has mentioned in class. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read the material._ 4._ If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.
Develop a good attitude towards the tests.
The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. They help you to remember your new knowledge. The world won't end if you don't pass a test, so don't be overly worried.
__5._ You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.
A.There are other methods that might help you with your studying.
B.Don't forget to set aside enough time for entertainment.
C.Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teacher says.
D.No one can become a top student unless he or she works hard.
E.Maybe you are an average student.
F.Make full use of class time to take notes of what the teacher says in class.
G.This will help you understand the next class.
Students who date(约会) in middle school have significantly worse study skills. They are four times more likely to drop out of school and report twice as much alcohol and tobacco use as their single classmates, according to new research from the University of Georgia.
“Romantic relationships are a trademark of adolescence, but very few studies have examined how adolescents differ in the development of these relationships,” said Pamela Orpinas, study author and professor in the College of Public Health and head of the Department of Health Promotion and Behavior.
Orpinas followed a group of 624 students over a seven-year period from 6th to 12th grade.
Each year, the group of students completed a survey indicating whether they had dated and reported the frequency of different behaviors, including the use of drugs and alcohol. Their teachers completed questionnaires about the students’ academic(学术的) efforts. He found that some students never or hardly ever reported dating from middle to high school, and these students always had the best study skills according to their teachers. Other students dated infrequently in middle school but increased the frequency of dating in high school.
“At all points in time, teachers considered the students who reported the lowest frequency of dating as having the best study skills and the students with the highest dating as having the worst study skills,” according to the journal article. Study skills refer to behaviors that lead to academic success such as doing work for extra credit (学分), being well organized, finishing homework, working hard and reading assigned chapters.
“Dating a classmate may be as complicated as dating a co-worker,” Orpinas said, “when the couple break up, they have to continue to see each other in class and perhaps see the ex-partner dating someone else. It is reasonable to think this could be linked to depression and could divert (转移) attention from studying.”
“Dating should not be considered a ceremony of growth in middle school,” Orpinas concluded.
