Which is the most popular ball game in China? You may say ping pong. But do you know China has a long history with the football? Though England is home to modern football, China is the birth place of the game. In history, Chinese football was called Cu Ju, which was created in the Han Dynasty. In Tang Dynasty, football became the most popular ball game in China. There was even Women’s Football Team at that time. However, in Qing Dynasty, football was like a star flying across the sky and lost its light.

China has taken part in the World Cup Qualifier 10 times but has been in FIFA World Cup for only once. Some people think Chinese football is hopeless, but more people believe it is going through a transitional period(过渡期). There is much room for improvement and we will finally win. So young or old, men or women, crazy football fans can be seen everywhere. Some people never miss a match on TV, some people travel to another city to cheer for their favorite teams. Children play football on their school playground every day. Some schools even have special football class for students. In March this year, students in Qingdao began to take football tests in their high school entrance exam. This is the first time that football was brought into high school entrance exam in China.

No matter how many times Chinese football team has let us down, Chinese people’s love for football has never changed.

Sleep is like food for the brain. Enough sleep helps the body and brain grow and develop. According to the National Sleep Foundation in the US, adults need seven to nine hours of sleep every night. For students aged 10 to 17, a healthy amount is about eight to nine hours per night.

But many students don’t get enough sleep because of early school start times and heavy homework. About 80 percent of middle school students don’t get enough sleep, the China Youth and Children Research Center reported. For some students, they want to sleep early, but they keep worrying about their schoolwork and can’t fall asleep quickly. For others, they may even have insomnia which might keep them awake all night.

These sleeping problems greatly affect people’s lives. Experts have shown that lack of sleep for teenagers leads to poor grades. Students without enough sleep cannot pay attention in class or do well in sports. Also, the lack of sleep may make them depressed (沮丧的).

Luckily, with good sleep habits, it is easier to fall asleep. Some of these good habits include avoiding drinks that make people excited late in the day, going to sleep at the same time each night, and sleeping in a comfortable place that is dark, quiet, and neither too warm nor too cold.

Many hospitals have blood banks. In these banks, blood of all types is stored. When blood is needed, it is taken from the bank. Healthy people then give blood to the bank to replace (取代) the blood that is used. Blood can be kept in the fridge for about three weeks with a kind of chemical.

When people lose much of their blood because of operations or accidents, they may need transfusions(输血). Some people may need transfusions because of illness. Sometimes only a part of the blood is used for transfusions. Plasma(血浆), the liquid part of the blood , may be given alone. Transfusions of plasma are often given when people have been badly burned.

When a person gets a transfusion, he gets blood of the same type as his. Or there may be a bad reaction(反应). To make it safer, before a transfusion is given, the blood to be used must be tested with the blood of the person who is to receive it. This testing is called cross matching of the blood.

A group of adults, highly succeeded in their jobs, went to visit their old professor. Soon they began to complain(抱怨) about the stress and problems in work and life.

________ professor went to the kitchen and returned ________ a pot of coffee and all kinds of cups—crystal, glass, plastic; some nice looking, some plain looking; and the students noticed that some were expensive, some cheap. And he told them to help ________ to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said, “I’ve noticed that all the nice looking expensive cups were ________ up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. Although ________ is normal for you to take only the best for yourselves, that is the root of your problems and stress. You know that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. And ________  you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, ________ you all went for the best cups.”

Sometimes, by paying ________ only to the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee that God has ________ us. God gave us the coffee, not the cups. Please enjoy your coffee!

The ________ people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love sincerely. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And leave the rest to God.
