Dear friends, In today’s world, being able to master a foreign language will be helpful in our life. Here I’d like to share my learning methods. First, I think it’s useful to learn grammar and remember as many as useful sentence patterns as possible. I believe the more we read, the better our English will be. So I spend much time reading English newspapers and magazines after class, which helps to improve my English. Besides, TV and radio programs are of great help. Learning English not only increases my awareness of foreign cultures but also helps me to communicate with English-speaking people and to make more new friends. However, sometimes I get discouraged because I keep forgetting words I have just learned. I’d like to use the opportunity to seek for your advice. Thank you. 第二步:根据关键要点,确定关键词,如:master a foreign language(掌握外语),grammar and sentence patterns(语法和句型结构),English newspapers and magazines(英语报刊和杂志),get discouraged(挫折)等。

Last summer vacation, I worked in restaurant. One day, I was about to be off duty then three foreigners came in. Since it was my first time to talk with foreigners, suddenly my mind went blankly. I failed to respond to their question. But a few minutes later, I refresh myself. So, I began to talk to them and adapted to that atmosphere gradually. I restarted to pick up my confident again. One of them, who seemed in his thirtieth, praised on me for my self-confidence. After that, I swore I must learnt English well, especially spoken English, and never make that embarrassing thing happening again.

So what can we do to motivate ourselves to accomplish our goals?  2.

Decide what you want.

It’s hard to motivate an aimless mind. 3. Then break it down into smaller sections so it’s easier to handle and less overwhelming(势不可挡)

Keep track of your progress.

Keep a journal where you can measure how much you have accomplished.4.Post motivating pictures or slogans within your sight.

It is always inspiring to see pictures of people who have accomplished what you’re going for. It makes it attainable. Likewise, little slogans like “go for it” or “just do it” can give you the little support you need.

5.

Once you have accomplished your objective, e.g. becoming an early riser, keep it up so that it’s second nature to you and you don’t have to think about it anymore.

A new app is trying to make it simpler to help you react to photos and videos that your friends post online---it’s using AI to capture(捕捉) your facial expressions and automatically translate them into a range of emoji(表情符号) faces.

Polygram, which is free and available only for the iPhone for now, is a social app that lets you share things like photos, videos, and messages.

Unlike on Facebook, though, where you have a small range of pre-set reactions to choose from beyond clicking a little thumbs-up icon(图标), Polygram uses a neural(神经的) network that runs locally on the phone to figure out if you’re smiling, bored, embarrassed, surprised, etc.

Marcin Kemiec, one of Polygram ‘s founders, says the app’s AI works by capturing your face with the front-facing camera on the phone and analyzing the images as quickly as possible, rather than just looking at specific points on the face like your eyes and nose. This is done directly on the phone, using the iPhone’s picture processing unit, he says.

When you look at a post in the app, you see a small yellow emoji on the bottom of the display, its expression changing along with your real one.

There’s a slight delay—20 milliseconds, which is just hard to notice—between what you’re expressing on your face and what shows up in the app. The app records your responses in a little log of emoji on the side of the screen, along with those of others who’ve already looked at the same post.

The app is meant to appeal to those who really care about how they’re understood on social media. Users can see a record of the emoji reactions to each photo or video they post to the app, as well as details about who looked at the post, how long they looked at it, and where they’re located.

Eventually, the founders say, they may release software tools that let other developers come up with their own applications for the technology.

1.As a new social app, which characteristic of Polygram is true?

A. It is cheap and available only for the iPhone for now.

B. It eventually transfers emoji faces to facial expressions automatically.

C. It specializes in a neural network that runs originally on your phone.

D. It needs to choose from many reactions that have been set previously.

2.Those who ________will be obviously attracted by this new app.

A. are new technology fans

B. are addicted to new iPhones

C. have a great passion for emoji

D. are concerned about self-evaluation

3.What’s the purpose of the passage?

A. To promote and sell a new software.

B. To introduce to us a new and popular app.

C. To reveal the significance of a new technology.

D. To inform us of the popularity of a new app.
