When we think about happiness, we usuall...

When we think about happiness, we usually think of something extraordinary, a pinnacle(顶点) of sheer(纯粹的) delight. And those pinnacles seem to get rarer the older we get.

51   I remember playing police and robbers in the woods, getting a speaking part in the school play. Of course, kids also experience lows, but their delight at such peaks of pleasure as winning a race or getting a new bike is unreserved.

For teenagers, or people under 20 the concept of happiness changes.   52   I can still feel the pain of not being invited to a party that almost everyone else was going to. I also remember the great happiness of being invited at another event to dance with a very handsome young man.

In adulthood the things that bring great joy—birth, love, marriage—also bring responsibility and the risk of loss.  53   For adults, happiness is complex.

54   But I think a better definition of happiness is “ the ability to enjoy something”. The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It's easy to overlook the pleasure we get from loving and being loved, the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, even good health.

While happiness may be more complex for us, the solution is the same as ever. Happiness isn't about what happens to us; it’s the ability to find a positive for every negative, and view a difficulty as a challenge.  55

A.Love may not last; loved ones die.

B.For a child, happiness has a magic quality.

C.Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life.

D.Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect.

E. The dictionary defines “happy” as “lucky” or “fortunate”.

F. It's not wishing for what we don't have, but enjoying what we do possess.

G. Suddenly it’s conditional on such things as excitement, love, and popularity.

BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhuanet)--- A new hotel concept has been realized in a village in Northern Sweden, which aims to make the simple treehouse become a world-class destination for travellers. The Treehotel, located in a place called Harads, will consist of four rooms when it opens on July 17th: the Cabin, the Blue Cone, the Nest, and the Mirrorcube.

Two additional rooms are scheduled to open in October. The long term vision(想象) is even more expansive. “Our goal in five years is to have 24 rooms from 24 different architects,” says Treehotel co-founder Kent Lindvall.

The first six rooms were designed by five different architects. Lindvall says the Treehotel’s vision proves a powerful draw, with enquiries(询问) coming in from far and wide. “I think what’s exciting here is that we’re just 60 km below the Arctic Circle. It means there’s a good possibility to have the northern lights in the winter and of course to have the midnight sun in the summer.”

As we all know, language is always changing. In a society where life continues year after year with few changes, the language does not change either. The earliest known languages had difficult grammar but a small, limited vocabulary. Over the century, the grammar changed, and the vocabulary grew. For example, the English and Spanish people who came to America during the sixteenth century gave names to all the new plants and animals they found. In this way, hundreds of new words were introduced into English and Spanish vocabularies. Today life is changing very fast, and language is changing fast too.

There are several major(主要) language families in the world. Some scientists say there are nine main families, but other scientists divide them differently. The languages in each family are connected, and scientists think that they came from the same parent language.
