例文 Dear Luke, I’m happy to hear that you will come and stay in China for three months. Now let me tell you something about Chinese table manners. First, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. Second, if you are being treated by a Chinese host, you’ll taste many kinds of foods. Chinese people will do their best to show their hospitality. Third, sometimes the Chinese host uses his own chopsticks to put food in your bowl or plate. This is a sign of politeness. You are supposed to eat whatever it is and say how delicious it is. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can just show your thanks politely and leave the food there. Looking forward to seeing you in China. Best wishes!

When I was a kid, I always wanted to go camping. I was thirteen when my brother Jackie, who was twenty, finally agreed to take me on a camping trip. We decided to take a coach to the nearby town. Once we got there, we’d find a place to set up our tent and spend the night. It seemed simple!

As soon as my parents drove us to the coach station on Saturday morning, Jackie and I got on the coach happily. However, halfway to the town, my head began to ache. And it just got worse and worse. Finally, I couldn’t stand it any longer. Jackie had no choice but to get off the coach with me. He was quite disappointed.

I said to my brother excitedly, “Jackie, look! Is that our favorite writer? The man in a blue shirt and black jeans?”

Jackie looked back and said in excitement, “Oh, yes, Tony!” Then he added, “But I don’t think we can go back to the waiting room now!”

“That's okay! At least we’ve ‘met’ him,” I said. “Now, I guess the headache isn’t that upsetting!”

My friends and I used to be a little afraid of the old house on the corner. It’s painted grey with plants almost as tall as the house. No one has lived there for years. Some of the older kids said a monster lived in the house.

One day when we were playing in the street, Sara hit the ball hard and it went towards the yard of the old house.

Sara was too scared to move. “Well,” I said. “Let’s go to get it.”

We jumped into the yard. I stayed near the wall, afraid to get close to the house. We searched and searched, but nothing turned up. All we found was rubbish of years. “We could,” said Mariana. “Er … we could go inside.”

The door of the house wasn’t locked. Half the windows were broken. Though it was light outside, it was dark inside. I felt foolish looking for a black ball in a completely dark room. Just then, we all heard a low, deep creak(咯吱声) coming from the ceiling above.

“The monster!” cried Sara. We all held our breath. Then we heard the footsteps getting closer and closer. It was growling(咆哮). And … barking?

“Huh?” said Mariana.

It was actually a big dog, smiling with the ball in his mouth.

“You’re no monster at all!” we said. Mariana took the dog home and named him Monster.
