Ways to Raise a Charitable Kid
Kids benefit in many ways from learning to be generous and caring about other._______ Studies show that possessing empathy(共鸣)also makes children more likable, more employable, better leaders, more conscience-driven and even increases their lifespan. The best news is that empathy can be cultivated, and one of the best empathy generators are service projects to help kids step out of their comfort zones, open their eyes and expose them to others’ lives. Here are 3 simple,science-backed tips to inspire generosity in your children.
1.Be a charitable role model.
The old saying,“Children learn learn what they live” has a lot of truth to it.Studies show that if parents are generous and giving, kids are likely to adopt those qualities. _______There are so any daily opportunities; phoning a friend who is down, collecting for the homeless, volunteering at a food bank. After volunteering,be sure to tell your child how good it made you feel.

3.___4___
A once-a-year day of volunteering is rarely enough for a child to adopt a charitable mindset.Look for ways to help your children experience the joy of giving on a regular basis: baking an extra batch of cookies for the lonely neighbor next door, singing to a nursing home to add a little joy.The goal of getting kids involved in charity is not about winning the Nobel Peace Prize, but to give them the opportunity to experience goodness.

A company has designed a water bottle, the Memobottle, which is ideal for the office worker’s bag, because it’s completely flat. With the same shape as a piece of paper, the Memobottle is a reusable water bottle that slides into your bag to lie next to books and laptops. The bottle, which can also be washed in a dishwasher, is designed to help reduce the number of plastic bottles in landfills(填埋).
Two creative people Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Byrt, both 28,designed the bottle to be convenient to carry and environmentally friendly. It is made from a durable and dishwasher-friendly“green” plastic.
Leeworthy and Byrt, from Australia, say more than 600 billion single-use bottles were sold globally last year. In America alone, studies show that around 1,500 single-use water bottle are consumed every second—only 20 percent of these are recycled. And the cost of buying more and more plastic bottles adds to— the pair say that bottled water costs approximately 1,400 times more than tap water.
“We’ve always been passionate about the environment,” said Leeworthy.“For years we have been focused on creative design that provides environmental remedy while improving social convenience. The Memobottle was designed to overcome two problems that we see in our society: our attachment to the outdoors, and our inability to fit water bottles in laptop bags.”
The bottle will be available in three different sizes— A5 which holds 750 ml,A4 which holds 1.25 litres and letter size which stores 1.25 litres. The product is seeking funding on Kickstarter and has already soared(飙升)past its primary goal of raising £8,310 ($13,500),reaching it in just 36 hours. Jonathan Byrt said, “The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive! The emails of support and interest, and social media comments have been amazing!”
The product is expected to be on the market by Christmas and will be available for global delivery.

During this shopping season, salesmen will come up with different strategies to get your business. Many product companies use specific colors to cause positive emotions and compete for a sale. However, sight is not the only one sensory detail that companies use.Sounds and smells can influence consumer purchasing decisions.
Nobel Prize-winning research shows that our sense of smell has great power to cause an emotional response.A study published earlier his year compared purchasing in a French flower shop when the smell of lavender(薰衣草)was given off and when it wasn’t.It found that the smell increased the number of customers purchasing items and the amounts of their purchases. An earlier study using Nike shoes found that consumers desired the shoes more, and were willing to pay more, when the room had a mixed smell of flowers.Realizing the subconscious impact of smell, many stores apply artificial scents(香味)through their heating and air-conditioning vents(通风口)or place scent machines above their doors. For instance,a coconut scent might make that bikini more appealing as you long for a vacation.
Ever felt frenzied due to a store’s fast-paced music? Or calmed by a piece of light music? A retailer’s choice of music can have a big impact on customer moods. One study found that when subjected to loud music, customers will spend less time in a store. But interestingly, the researchers did not find a difference in sales or customers satisfaction.Another interesting finding from a recent study was that customer actually shop longer when exposed to unfamiliar music.Just as department stores use different scents in certain departments, many use different music in some areas to appeal to varying consumers.
Well, you could always leave the store and take a break, but the food court probably isn’t your best choice as brands like Cinnabon and Panera Bread also use scents as part of their customer experience.Online retailers use a variety of other strategies to get your business, but you can always neglect those and enjoy the familiar scents of home.
