动词短语wait for等待…;介词for后面要接等待的宾语,而本句指在公交车站台等待,应该使用at the bus stop。所以要把for改为at。 第二处: 考查连词。句意:几分钟以后,公交车来了但是却没有停下来。上下文之间是转折关系,而and是并列关系,所以要把and改为but。 第三处:考查句子结构。句意:那个男人以为公交车会在稍远的地方停下来。原句中the man是主语,thought是谓语动词,who是多余的。 特殊疑问词how much对钱提问,how many对可数名词复数提问。句意:你知道如果你追出租车能够节省多少钱吗?本句是对钱进行提问,所以要把many改为much。

Long ago, people believed that in the future we would work less, have more free time and get more relaxed. 1.

Today we work harder, work longer hours and have more stresses than ten years ago. We walk faster, talk faster and sleep less than previous generations. And although we use machines that save us time, we have less free time than our parents and grandparents. 2. An American journalist James Gleick in a new book, says that people are suffering from “ hurry sickness” --- we’re trying to do more things in less time. As a result, our lives are stressful. He says that if we don’t slow down, we won’t live as long as our parents. 3.

Newspaper articles today are shorter and the headlines are bigger. Most people don’t have enough time to read the articles, so they only read the headlines. On TV and the radio, newspapers speak more quickly than ten years ago. In the USA, there is a book called One-Minute Bedtime Stories for children. These are shorter versions of traditional stories, specially written for “busy parents” who want to save time! Some answer phones now have “quick playback” buttons so that we can replay people’s messages faster--- we can’t waste time listening to people speaking at the normal speed! 4. Ten years ago when people went to art galleries they spent seconds looking at each picture. Today they spend just three three seconds! Nowadays, many people prefer faster and dynamic sports like basketball.

5. Our cars are faster but the traffic is worse, so we drive more slowly. We spend more time sitting in our cars, feeling stressed. Experts predict that in ten years the average speed on the road in cities will be only 17 km/h.

A.People didn’t feel stressed ten years ago.

B.But unluckily, this has not happened yet.

C.Even when we relax we do everything more quickly.

D.But what is this doing to our health?

E.For most people, being faster doesn’t mean being better.

F.The only thing that is slower than before is the way we drive.

G.Now everything is faster than before, which bring us more convenience.

In general, people talk about two groups of colors: warm colors and cool colors. Researchers in psychology think that there are also two groups of people: people who prefer warm colors and people who prefer cool colors.

The warm colors are red, orange and yellow. Where there are warm colors and a lot of light, people usually want to be active. People think that red, for example, is exciting. Sociable people, those who like to be with others, like red. The cool colors are green, blue and violet. These colors, unlike warm colors, are relaxing. Where there are cool colors, people are usually quiet. People who like to spend time alone often prefer blue.

Red may be exciting, but one researcher says that time seems to pass more slowly in a room with warm colors than in a room with cool colors. He suggests that a warm color, such as red or orange is a good color for a living room or restaurant. People who are talking or eating do not want time to pass quickly. Cool colors are better for offices or factories if the people who are working there want time to pass quickly.

Researchers do not know why people think some colors are warm and other colors are cool. However, almost everyone agrees that red, orange, and yellow are warm and that green, blue, and violet are cool. Perhaps warm colors remind people of warm days and the cool colors remind them of cool days. Because in the north the sun is higher during summer, the hot summer sunlight appears yellow.

1.Which of the following colors belong to cool colors?

A. Yellow, green.    B. Blue, violet.

C. Black, blue.    D. Brown, white.

2.Which of the following statements is not true?

A. Sociable people like warm colors.

B. Warm colors can make people excited.

C. People who like to be with others don’t like red.

D. Where there are warm colors, people want to be active.

3.Which is the right color for different rooms?

A. Red or orange for offices.    B. Orange for dining-rooms.

C. Blue for bedrooms.    D. Red for studies.

4.What is the main idea of the last paragraph?

A. It shows the reason why people think some colors are warm and others are cool.

B. Warm colors remind people of warm days.

C. Cool colors remind people of cool days.

D. People have an agreeable opinion of warm colors and cool colors.

We know that many animals do not stay in one place. Birds, fish and other animals move from one place to another at a certain time. They move for different reasons: most of them move to find food more easily, but others move to get away from places that are too crowded.

When cold weather comes, many birds move to warmer places to find food. Some fishes give birth in warm water and move to cold water to feed. The most famous migration(迁移) is probably the migration of the fish, which is called “salmon”. This fish is born in fresh water but it travels many miles to salt water. There it spends its life. When it is old, it returns to its birthplace in fresh water. Then it gives birth and dies there. In northern Europe, there is a kind of mouse. They leave their mountain homes when they become too crowded. They move down to the low land. Sometimes they move all the way to the seaside, and many of them are killed when they fall into the sea.

Recently, scientists have studied the migration of a kind of lobster(龙虾). Every year, when the season of bad weather arrives, the lobster get into a long line and start to walk across the floor of the ocean. Nobody knows why they do this, and nobody knows where they go.

So, sometimes we know why humans and animals move from one place to another, but at other times we don’t. Maybe living things just like travel.

1.Most animals move from one place to another at a certain time to _____.

A. give birth    B. enjoy warmer weather

C. find food more easily    D. find beautiful places

2.The mice in northern Europe move when _____.

A. they need fresh water    B. the weather is bad

C. the place gets too crowded    D. they haven’t enough food

3.This passage is mainly about _____.

A. why animals move from one place to another    B. how animals can find food easily

C. new discoveries of animals traveling    D. some problems with traveling
