I have a good friend who’s name is Liu Mei. She is our monitor and one of the excellent student in our class. Although she is clever, but she works very hard. We have a lot on common and have a lot to talk .One evening she told me that something happened when her parents was out. She was doing her homework one Sunday morning when she smelt something burning. Look out of the window , she find a cloud of smoke coming out of her neighbor’s house . She called 119 immediate. Ten minutes late, the firemen came and put out the fire. Her neighbor was very thankful for her help.

1.Who’s ----whose  2.Student---students  3.去掉but 4.on---in  5.talk后加about 6.was---were 7.Look ----Looking 8.find---found  9.immediate--- immediately  10.late---later 【解析】 本文是一篇记叙文,作者的好朋友刘梅学习认真刻苦,和作者关系很好,她讲述了自己报警救火的一件事情。 短语have…in common with…与…有共同之处。句意:我们有很多共同之处,也经常交流。 第五处:考查动词短语。本句中不定式to talk about作为定语修饰a lot,a lot与talk about构成动宾关系,经常about是不能省略的,类似的结构有:I have a room to live in。 第六处:考查主谓一致。本句主语是her parents,表示复数概念,所以谓语动词也应该使用复数形式were。 第七处:考查分词做状语。动词短语look out of…

Before a new type of airplane goes into service, every part of it is tested again and again. But there are two tests that are more important than all the others.

The first is called the " tank test". A modem airplane must fly very high in the sky. Air must be pumped into the plane so that the passengers can breathe. The metal structure (结构)of the plane has to be very strong for this reason. When the plane is filled with air, the air presses against the skin of the plane inside. The pressure (压力) on a small window is like a huge foot that is trying to get out. If a small part of the plane were to fail, the plane would explode in the sky. To test the structure of the plane, the plane is lowered into a huge tank or container of water. Then it is filled with air. Vne pressure inside the plane is greater than it ever will be when it is high up in the air. Finally, there is an explosion. This does not cause so much damage inside the water tank as it would anywhere else. Engineers can discover which part of the plane has broken. Then that part is made stronger.

The most dangerous test happens when the new plane is going through test flights in the air. The test pilot must find out exactly what happens when the engines (发动机) are all shut off at once. The plane begins to fall like a stone. It is the pilot' s job to find out how he can get control of the plane again. These two tests are examples of how planes are made safe before they ever carry passengers.

1.By doing the "tank test", the engineers can find out _______.

A. the amount of air in the plane

B. the power of the airplane engines

C. the. pressure inside and outside the plane

D. the strength of the plane structure

2.What will happen to the plane under the "tank test"?

A. It will be broken.

B. It will be made stronger.

C. It will be filled with water.

D. It will be tested by pilots,

3.According to the text, why are test flights most dangerous?

A. The plane may explode in the air.

B. The pilot may lose control of the plane.

C. The engines may be damaged.

D. Too much air may get into the plane.

4.What might be the most suitable title for the text?

A. How Airplanes Are Made and Tested

B. The Importance of Flying Safely

C. The Danger of Testing Airplanes

D. Two Important Tests on Airplanes

Computer programmer David Jones earns £35,000 a year designing new computer games, yet he cannot find a bank ready to let him have a credit card(信用卡). Instead, he has been told to wait another two years, until he is 18.

The 16-year-old works for a small firm in Liverpool, where the problem of most young people of his age is finding a job. David's firm releases(推出) two new games for the fast throwing computer market each month.

But David's biggest headache is what to do with his money. Even though he earns a lot, he cannot drive a car, take out a mortgage(抵押贷款), or get credit cards. David got his job with the Liverpool-based company four months ago, a year after leaving school with six O-levels and working for a time in a computer shop. "I got the job because the people who run the firm knew I had already written some programs," he said. David spends some of his money on records and clothes, and gives his mother 50 pounds a week. But most of his spare time is spent working.

"Unfortunately, computing was not part of our studies at school," he said. "But I had been studying it in books and magazines for four years in my spare time. I knew what I wanted to do and never considered staying on at school. Most people in this business are fairly young, anyway." David added: "I would like to earn a million and I suppose early retirement(退休) is a possibility. You never know when the market might disappear."

2.What is one of the problems that David is facing now?
