A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to the audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired. “How heavy is this glass of water?”

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

She continued. “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happen. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt you. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed and be incapable(无能力的)of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night.

Remember to put the glass down!”

On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released two proposals to improve food safety. The regulations are a response to a series of recent foodborne illnesses. The second rule k specific to food that is eaten raw. It requires strict standards of growing harvesting, and packing fruit and vegetables. Workers must make sure the materials used in soil are safe and free of contamination.

The FDA believes these new rules will not just improve Americans’ health but also make a positive economic impact. The regulations can lead to major savings in medical costs for people who get sick because of the contamination food.

Dear God,

Now that I am no longer young. I have friends whose mothers have passed away. I have heard these sons and daughters say they never fully thanked their mothers until it was too late to tell them.

I am blessed with the dear mother who is still alive. I appreciate her devotion more each day. My mother does not change, but I do. As I grow older and wiser, I realize what an extraordinary person the is. It’s sad that I am unable to say these words in her presence, but they flow easily from my pen.

Yesterday I was walking to home from school when suddenly it rained heavy. But I didn’t have an umbrella and a raincoat with me. I looked around and saw some students walk happily under their umbrella. They must have listened to the weather forecast. I began to run and caught in the rain. I kept running until I got to a bookstore which I could wait until the rain stopped, in the same time I could read my favorite books. After about half a hour, the rain stopped and I go home.
