Dear Tom,
I’m happy to get from your letter and knew you’re coming to China.
Among the two trips to the Yangtze River and Mount Tai, both are high recommended (推荐). Personally, I prefer the tour along the Yangtze, longest river and one of the mother river of Chinese civilization. You can learn a tot about the history of China and Chinese people. Moreover, the scenery along the river are amazing, with many well-know sightseeing spots. That’s because I think the trip along the Yangtze will be a better choice.
I hope your suggestion will be of some help and you’ll have a good time in China.
Yours,
Li Hua

The Value of Tears
Tears can ruin make-up, bring conversation to a stop, and give you a runny nose.Tears leave you embarrassed and without energy.Still, crying is a fact of life, and your tears are very useful.Even when you're not crying, they make a film over the eye's surface.1.
When tears fall, they reduce stress. But we tend to fight them for all! sorts of reasons. "People worry about showing their emotions , afraid that once they lose control they'll never get it back."2.. After we cry, the feelings that caused the tears often disappear.
Sometimes people become much stressed and can't cry. Whatever emotion they are feeling—shock, anger, fear, or sadness—is being held back.
But everyone has the need to cry. Psychologist Vera Diamond explains that her treatment often consists of giving people permission to cry.3. Patients practice crying just to become used to expressing emotions. She suggests safe, private places to cry, like under the bedcovers or in the car.Crying is a way of reducing tension, but people don't like it when others cry because it makes them tense.4. And they'll do just about anything to make you stop.
In certain situations, such as at work, tears are not appropriate. It's good not to cry during a tense business discussion.5.You should also act out the whole situation again and be as noisy and angry as you like.It will help you feel better. "And," she adds, "Once your tears have taken away the stress, you can begin to think calmly of ways to deal with the problem."
Tears are a sign of our ability to feel.If you find yourself near someone crying, deal with it.And never be afraid to cry yourself.
A.She gives crying exercises.
B.They cry for different reasons.
C.They too may be holding back a need to cry.
D.The fact is that no emotion lasts forever.
E.It contains a chemical against infection.
F.But once you're safely behind closed doors, don't just cry.
G.It forms in response to the stress on the surface of the eye.
If you want to learn anything at school, you need to listen to your teachers. Unfortunately, millions of kids can’t hear what their teachers are saying. And it’s not because these students are goofing off. Often, it’s the room’s fault. Building architecture and building design can create echo(回声)-filled classrooms that make hearing difficult.
Children with hearing impairments(损伤)suffer most from noisy classrooms. They sometimes can’t hear questions that other students ask in class. Compared with kids with healthy hearing, they have a harder time picking up new vocabulary words by hearing them in talking.
Even kids with normal hearing have a harder time in the classroom when there’s too much noise. Younger children in particular have trouble separating important sounds – like a teacher’s voice – from background noise. Kids with learning disabilities and speech impediments(障碍)and kids for whom English is a second language also have a harder time learning in noisy situations.
In recent years, scientists who study sound have been asking schools to reduce background noise, which may include loud air-conditioners and pipes. They’re also targeting outdoor noises, such as highway traffic. Noise reduction is a big deal. Why? Because quieter classrooms might make you smarter by letting you hear your lessons better.
“It’s so obvious that we should have quiet rooms that allow for access to the lesson,” says Dan Ostergren, a hearing scientist. “Sometimes it surprises me that we spend so much time discussing this topic. I just want to go. Why is this hard for anyone to grasp?”

Life is difficult.
What do you think about life? Maybe most people say that life is difficult. But life is no longer difficult once we truly understand and accept it. Most people do not fully see this truth. Instead, they complain about their problems and difficulties as if life should be easy. It seems to them that their difficulties represent a special kind of suffering especially forced upon (强加于) them or their families, their class, or even their nation.
What makes life difficult is that the process of facing and solving problems is a painful one. Problems, depending on their nature, cause us sadness or loneliness or regret or anger or fear. These are uncomfortable feelings, often as painful as any kind of physical pain. And since life causes an endless series of problems, life is always difficult and is full of pain as well as joy.
Yet, it is in this whole process of solving problems that life has its meaning.
Problems are the serious test that tells success from failure. When we desire to encourage the growth of the human spirit, we encourage the human ability to solve problems, just as in school we set problems for our children to solve. It is through the pain of meeting and working out problems that we learn. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Those things that hurt instruct.” It is for this reason that wise people learn not to fear but to welcome the pain of problems.

A. we become stronger by facing and solving the problems of life

C. people like to complain about their problems
D. everybody has problems
We all have found memories of taking a few lazy months off after the stress of A-levels. As we draw to the end of an academically and socially packed year, the idea of doing the same again is appealing.
But after graduation, there will be few occasions when we can enjoy such extended holidays, free to do as we wish. So now that summer has arrived, let’s take full advantage. It goes without saying that summer vacations are the perfect time to go traveling, especially if you avoid the pricey school holiday period.
Tickets go up greatly when you turn 26, so make the most of cheaper rates while you’re eligible. Finding a reliable company that won’t cheat you is extremely important, as is discovering a program that appeals to your own interests. There are plenty of websites where you can see other people’s recommendations.
Of course for most of us, money is tight—but to avoid overspending you can combine employment and adventure. Hannah Warn, a psychology student at the University of Winchester, is spending her summer at Camp America, an increasingly popular venture where British students enjoy a good time on a summer camp.
“Being thrown into something where I don’t really know what to expect is exciting.” she says.“It gives me a chance to experience being away from home in a different way.”
Those with a talent for languages might also consider working abroad as an au pair. The work may be challenging, but it’s a chance to involve yourself in a new culture while your employer pays most of the bill.
If you have an idea about the sort of career you’d like, getting work experience is wise. In many careers, graduating with only your degree to show for your three or four years just won’t make it. Send applications off early and to as many places as possible. Make sure you take a well-earned break this summer.
