This story took place when I was about 1...

This story took place when I was about 12 years old.

Hummingbirds(蜂鸟)are small birds only about 3 inches long. Each spring they migrate to America from Mexico and Central America. They spend summer here and then fly the 2,000 miles back in the fall.

My Dad had just picked me up from school on one of the first cool days of fall.On our way home I saw a Hummingbird lying dead on the sidewalk. It had flown into the large plate glass and broke its neck.I picked up the tiny bird.I decided to take it home for burial. It seemed a shame for such a beautiful bird to be crushed by passers-by.

Little did I know that Hummingbirds can go into a state of hibernation(冬眠)daring cold temperatures. While like this they might appear to be dead.As soon as the bird warms up,all of its functions will return to normal.

About half way home I started to feel a small movement in my hands.I was quite startled.Evidently the hummingbird was NOT dead. The warmth from my hands was reviving(使恢复)the bird. When we got home Dad opened door for me and I stepped out of the car.I slowly and cautiously opened my hand. The hummingbird flew away to a nearby cornfield and wets thrilled to be on his way south again.

One of the most amazing things about hummingbird migration is that, after such a long journey,so many of them find their way back to me exact same location every spring. So maybe he was one of the hummingbirds I saw again the next year sipping nectar(花蜜)from the feeder hanging on our back porch.

D. hummingbirds can remember the person who save them

was quite startled(震惊的) ☞ A选项Surprised.(惊讶的) 与startled(震惊的)是同义转述。故选A。 根据第二段中的“.Each spring they migrate to America from Mexico and Central America. They spend summer here and then fly the 2,000 miles back in the fall.” 故选A。 根据第三段中的“…on one of the first cool days of fall.On our way home I saw a Hummingbird lying dead on the sidewalk. It had flown into the large plate glass and broke its neck.I picked up the tiny bird”从本句可知作者是在较凉的秋天,捡到了一只小蜂鸟,它的脖子受了伤。及第四段的首句“Little did I know that Hummingbirds can go into a state of hibernation(冬眠)daring cold temperatures.” 【答案定位】根据第五段中的“About half way home I started to feel a small movement in my hands.I was quite startled” 可知:大约在回家的半路上,我开始感到手上有一点小动作,吓了一跳。 How did the author feel when he felt the bird move in his hand?☞文章内容.I was quite startled

a fast-food restaurant. Now I would like to share your working experiences with you during the past summer.

In the beginning of the summer vacation, I was hired as shopping guide in a big supermarket.

I stood for ten hours a day and smiled to everyone I have met. Sometimes I was laughed at, and most of the time, I was praised for my wonderful works by many people. Half a month passed quickly after I knew it, and I learned how to deal with different people.

Above all, I have learned that smile is the key to solve any problem.

Best wishes,

A new report says plastics are responsible for $13 billion in damage to the oceans and the undersea environment. The findings were announced recently at a United Nations conference.1..

Plastic thrown away carelessly makes its way into rivers and other waterways. 2.. After a while, it collects in the sea. And plastic never goes away. Plastic is not biodegradable—destroyed by bacteria or natural processes. Instead, it just breaks up into smaller pieces over time. The oceans contain a lot of chemicals and other pollutants(污染物).3..That means harmful material may get into our food supply.

4.. Human beings cause pollution and they can take steps to stop it. They can use fewer single use product containers and throw plastics away correctly. Plastic recycling programs also works—where old bottles and other plastics are collected, broken down and used to make new products. We could reuse bottles in our households many times if we wish to, rather than end it after the first use. We could, when we get rid of that plastic, recycle it and reuse it, which replaces the need for raw materials.

The report also calls on companies to improve methods for using plastics. 5.. And it calls for information about the way plastic is thrown out or removed from use. By putting a new value on plastic, industry has a special reason to clean up the environment.

But all of the companies must join to deal with the problem.

A. Then, fish may eat the plastics.

B. But people can make a big difference.

C. Plastics should be gathered together and reused.

D. It is convenient to use plastic bags in everyday life.

E. It asks for them to better measure and control plastic use.

F. The plastic eventually reaches coastal areas and ocean waters.

G. The report tells about harm to sea life and what might be done to improve the situation.
