1.wonder →wonders 2.that →which 3.who→whom 4.peacefully →peaceful 5.whether →that 6.do →doing 7.are→ is 8.repairing→ repaired 9.With→As/ went →going 10.in charge of →in the charge of 【解析】单句改错,运用相关语法知识对各个句子进行改错。 1. 由one of…… 2.The river, that flows through London is called Thames.由逗号可知that flows through London是非限制性定语从句,that不能引导非限制性定语从句,故将that改为which。 3.Your speech was heard by a group of five judges, all of who agreed it was the best.先行词five judges,后面定语从句中 all of+关系代词充当主语,介词的后面用whom,不能用who。 4.a very peacefully night 修饰名词night用形容词peaceful。 5.I don’t doubt whether he will win first prize, for he works hard. 6.固定句型prefer do A to do B 和做B比较更喜欢做A,故把do →doing。 7.as well as连接2个名词作主语,谓语动词由前面的名词决定,The teacher是单数,故把are→ is。 8.so it is to be repairing by others tomorrow. 9.the time went by,这是一个句子,with只能连接复合结构,as才能引导句子。 故把With→As/ went →going 。 10.in charge of意为“…负责…,担任…” in the charge of“…由某某负责”,由语境可知:这家公司由这个高个子男人负责管理,故把in charge of →in the charge of。 He died with his daughter yet a schoolgirl. 2. She said good-bye with tears in her eyes. 3.with + 名词 + 形容词 (强调名词的特性或状态) He often sleeps with the windows open. 4. He stood before his teacher with his head down. 5. With + 名词 + -ed 分词 (强调名词是 -ed分词动作的承受者或动作已经发生,被动关系) He sat there with his eyes closed. 6. with + 名词 + -ing分词(强调名词是 -ing分词的动作的发出者或某动作,状态正在进行,主动关系) He fell asleep with the lamp burning. 7. with + 名词 + to do (不定式动作尚未发生) I can’t go out with all these clothes to wash. With the time went by中,time和go by是主动关系,故将went改为going。

How many men do housework? Recently a European commission (委员会) tried to find out people's ideas and reactions to the women's movement. As part of their survey (调查), they asked many men and women the question: “Who does the housework?” The men answered very differently from the women!

The housework they asked people about were: preparing meals, washing dishes, cleaning the house and babysitting. 48% of British husbands said they did these things. 37% of Danish men helped in the house. But only 15% of Italian men said they did the housework; many of them said they never helped at all.

But there was an interesting point of view from the wives. According to British wives, only 35% of their husbands helped in the house. And Italian wives said that their husbands hardly ever helped. I came to study in the United States a year ago .Yet I did not know the real American society until I was injured in a car accident because after the accident I had to see a doctor and go to court.

After the accident, my roommate called a doctor for me. I was very grateful and determined to repay him one day. But the next day, he asked me to pay him $200 for what he had done. I was astonished. He had good reason to charge me, he said. And if I wanted to collect money from the person who was responsible for my injury, I’d have to have a good lawyer. And only a good doctor can help me get a good lawyer .Now that he had helped me find a good doctor, it was only fair that I should pay him.

But every day I went to see the doctor, I had to wait about 50 minutes. He would see two or three patients at the same time, and often stop treating one so as to see another. Yet he charged me $115 each time .The final examination report consisted of ten lines, and it cost me $215.

My lawyer was all smiles the first time we met. But after that he avoided seeing me at all. He knew very well the other party was responsible for the accident, yet he hardly did anything. He simply waited to collect his money. He was so irresponsible that I decided to dismiss him. And he made me pay him $770.

Now I had to act as my own lawyer. Due to my inexperience, I told the insurance company the date I was leaving America. Knowing that, they played for time...and I left without getting a cent.
