Question: I have been learning English f...

Question: I have been learning English for about 7 years. 1. And I still can't make myself understood in English. However, I love learning English. How can I learn English well? Please help me.

Answer: Many people have asked me this question. 2. Here I will give you several tips for learning English.

3.

First of all, you must want to learn. If you are not interested in learning English, no class will help you and no book will help you. So you have to be honest with yourself. Ask yourself, “Do I really want to learn English?” If you can't answer “yes” to this question, it is better for you to set English aside until you're ready and willing to learn.

● Set goals (目标).

To learn English well, you must set some goals. 4. It will also help you to see your progress. Ask yourself, “What are my goals? What areas would I like to improve?” Think about what your goals are, and review once in a while to see that you are making progress toward your goals.

● Practice, practice, and practice.

After you have set your goals, you have a better idea of what you need to practice. Just like the athlete  (运动员)whose goal is the Olympics must train(训练)daily, you as a language learner must practice language every day to make progress toward your goal. 5.

A. I think it is not easy to learn it well.

B.Want to learn.

C. Reading is a very good way to learn new words.

D. Make friends with some Americans online.

E. The more you practice, the more progress you will make.

F. The answers are as different as the people asking the question.

G. Having goals will help you remember what areas you want to work on.

And I still can’t make myself understood in English. 故选A。 2. Many people have asked me this question. 3.Want to learn. B。 4.Having goals will help you remember what areas you want to work on.空白处上一句为“学习英语,你必须建立目标”,此处应接着“goals”而谈,同时下一句“It will also help you to ......”,此处“also help ”表明建立目标“也能帮助你......”,故空白处应该填“set goals”能帮助你什么,G选项“Having goals will help you.....” G。 5.The more you practice, the more progress you will make. E“The more you practice, the more progress you will make”与之匹配。

Can dogs and cats get along well in the same home? People who are thinking about getting a dog as a friend for their cat are worried that they will fight. A recent research has found that if the cat is taken back home before the dog, and if they are introduced when still young (less than 6 months for cats, a year for dogs), it is highly probable that the two pets will get along swimmingly. In two-thirds of the homes cats and dogs have a good relationship.

However, it wasn’t all sweetness and light. There was a reported coldness between the cat and dog in 25% of the homes, while aggression(侵略,好斗) and fighting were found in 10% of the homes. One reason for this is probably that some of their body languages are just different. For example, when a cat turns its head away it means aggression, while a dog doing the same means submission(顺从).

In homes with cats and dogs living peacefully, researchers found a surprising behavior. They are learning how to talk each other’s language. It is a surprise that cats can learn how to talk “Dog”, and dogs can learn how to talk “Cat”.

What’s interesting is that both cats and dogs have appeared to become smarter. They can learn to read each other’s body languages, suggesting that the two may have more in common than was expected. Once familiar with each other’s body language, cats and dogs can play together, and enjoy sleeping together on the sofa.

The importance of this research on cats and dogs may go beyond  pets — to people who don’t get along well, including neighbors, colleagues at work, and even countries. If cats and dogs can learn to get along, surely people have a good chance.

1.The underlined word “swimmingly” in Paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to ________.

2.Some cats and dogs may fight when ________.

3.It is suggested in Paragraph 4 that cats and dogs ________.

A. have common interests

B. are less different than was thought

C. have a common body language

D. are not so smart as was expected

4.What can we human beings learn from cats and dogs?

A. We should learn to get along well with others.

B. We should know more about animals.

C. We should live in peace with animals.

D. We should learn more body languages.

When I was nine years old, I loved to go fishing with my dad. But the only thing that wasn’t very fun about it was that he could catch many fish while I couldn’t catch anything. I usually got pretty upset(心烦的) and kept asking him why. He always answered, “Son, if you want to catch a fish, you have to think like a fish”, I remember being even more upset then because, “I’m not a fish!” I didn’t know how to think like a fish. Besides, I reasoned, how could what I think influence what a fish does.

As I got a little older I began to understand what my dad really meant. So, I read some books on fish. And I even joined the local fishing club and started attending the monthly meetings. I learned that a fish is a cold-blooded(冷血的)animal and therefore is very sensitive(敏感的) to water temperature. That is why fish prefer shallow water to deep water because the former is warmer. Besides, water is usually warmer in direct sunlight than in the shade(阴凉处). Yet, fish don’ t have any eyelids(眼皮) and the sun hurts their eyes. The more I understood fish, the more I became effective at finding and catching them.

When I grew up and entered the business world, I remember hearing my first boss say, “We all need to think like sales people.” But it didn’t completely make sense. My dad never once said, “If you want to catch a fish you need to think like a fisherman.” What he said was, “You need to think like a fish.” Years later, with great efforts to promote long-term services to people much older and richer than me, I gradually learned what we all need is to think more like customers. It is not an easy job. I will show you how in the following chapters.

1.Why was the author upset in fishing trips when he was nine?

A. He could not catch a fish.

B. His father was not patient with him.

C. His father did not teach him fishing.

D. He could not influence a fish as his father did.

2.According to the author, fish are most likely to be found _________.

A. in deep water on sunny days

B. in deep water on cloudy days

C. in shallow water under sunlight

D. in shallow water under waterside trees.

3.After entering the business world, the author found _________.

A. it easy to think like a customer

B. his father’s fishing advice inspiring

C. his first boss’s sales ideas reasonable

D. it difficult to sell services to poor people

4.This passage most likely comes from _________.

A. a fishing guide

B. a popular sales book

C. a novel on childhood

D. a millionaire’s biography(自传)
