根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Some people go through life positively.  1.  Luckily, you can learn to become positive. If you become more positive, things will become brighter day by day. It’s not because things are any better, but because how you look at them will change. Here are a few things positive people do differently.

They find something to look forward to every day. Whether it’s catching up on a favorite TV show, trying out a new dessert recipe, or having a phone conversation with a friend in another town, these things don’t have to be big.    2.  .

3.   Joy isn’t so hard to find. You can even find joy in the tiniest things — a funny text from a friend or a beautiful sunny day — because it adds up. Soon, you won’t have to stop and smell the roses because you’ll be smelling them all the time. So learn to enjoy the small things in your life.

They stay busy. Being busy doesn’t mean living under much stress.    4. It means having something to look forward to every day. Start a hobby. Fill your weekends with your hobby. Remember, living your life to the fullest is up to you.

5..   When in doubt, choose kindness. Positive people look on the bright side, sure, but they also tend to pay it forward by passing on their positive energy to others. Giving is generous, but it also makes the giver feel even better. Now that’s a win-win. Be kind to others and others will treat you in the same way. And your days will be much better.

A. It means filling your life with good activities.

B. They celebrate small things.

C. They are kind.

D. They do something for fun.

E. Kindness is most important.

F. Having activities to expect will make you happy every day.

G. But not all of us were born to be positive.

Mosquitoes have an extraordinary ability to target humans far away and fly straight to their unprotected skin. Regrettably, mosquitoes can do more than cause an itchy(发痒的)wound. Some mosquitoes spread several serious diseases, including Dengue, yellow fever and malaria.

Over one million people worldwide die from these diseases each year. New research now shows how mosquitoes choose who to bite.

Mosquitoes need blood to survive. They are attracted to human skin and breath. They smell the carbon dioxide gas, which all mammals breathe out. This gas is the main way for mosquitoes to know that a warm-blooded creature is nearby.

But mosquitoes also use their eyes and sense of touch. Michael Dickinson is a professor at the California Institute of Technology. His research shows how these small insects, with even smaller brains, use three senses to find a blood meal.

Michael Dickinson’s team used plumes—a material that rises into the air of carbon dioxide gas into a wind tunnel. They then used cameras to record the mosquitoes. The insects followed the plume.

Then, the scientists placed dark objects on the lighter colored floor and walls of the tunnel. Mr. Dickinson said, at first, the mosquitoes showed no interest in the objects at all. “What was quite striking and quite surprising is that the mosquitoes fly back and forth for hours. These are hungry females and they completely ignore the objects on the floor and wall of the tunnel. But the moment they get a hit of CO2, they change their behavior quite obviously and now would become attracted to these little visual blobs (斑点).”

This suggested to the researchers that a mosquito’s sense of smell is more important in the search for food. Once mosquitoes catch a smell of a human or animal, they also follow visual signals.

The drunken thief who pretended he was Superman to stop a child raising the alarm has been caught after he leapt from the apartment building in his pants to make the girl convinced.

Police later found him on the roof in just his yellow pants, covered in cuts and bruises(淤青) after a neighbor heard his cries of pain.

It’s hard to find Alice Munro in the media. Even after she won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Canadian writer just appeared for a quick interview and then dropped out of sight. On Dec 29, she still didn't seek the spotlight(聚光灯)when she was named one of the five Women of the Year by the Financial Times.

In Munro's eyes, ordinary lives always hide larger dramas. So she records what we casually think of as the everyday actions of normal people. She often focuses on life in her hometown, a small village in Ontario which she is most familiar with. She writes about the ordinary things in the village-fox forming, trees filled in the Ontario wilderness, poor country alcohol and long last illnesses. Above all, she talks about girls and women who have seemingly ordinary lives but struggle against daily misfortune.

She has a special talent for uncovering the extraordinary in the ordinary. These are ordinary people, ordinary stories, but she has the magic. Her precise language, depth of detail and the logic of her storytelling have made her stories inviting.

Runaway, one of Munro’s representative works, is a good example of her writing style. One of the stories centers on the life of an ordinary woman Carla, who lives in a small Canadian town with her husband Clark. The story slowly forms a picture of Carla, trapped in a bad marriage, her unhappiness building into desperation until she decided to flee. The story of Carla is a story of the power and betrayals of love. It is about lost children and lots of chances that we can all find in life, There is pain beneath the surface, like a needle in the heart.

Since she published her first collection of short stories in 1968, Munro has won many awards, with the Nobel Prize being her biggest honor. On Oct 10, 2013, the Nobel Prize committee named Munro the “master of the contemporary short story”.

Liverpool is famed for many things — most especially The Beatles and its football team. But few would associate the city with one of the most famous political speeches in history. Yet tourism officials in the city have published the claim that Martin Luther King's “I Have a Dream” was written at a city centre hotel. The allegation (说法) has been made in a guide to a major art event named Liverpool Discovers.

A map in the guide shows more than 20 locations where famous people were born along with places associated with celebrities (名人) and events in their life. The guide claims, “Martin Luther King visited his supporters in Liverpool three times, and the first draft of his famous speech ‘I Have a Dream’ is claimed to have been written at Adelphi Hotel.” The speech, delivered to civil rights campaigners on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington in 1963, is one of the most quoted texts in history and was a definitive moment in the American Civil Rights Movement and in the fight for racial equality.

Dr. King's biographer, Godfrey Hodgson, said that the suggestion did not fit the facts. He said, “I don't believe it. If he had been to Liverpool, there would have been massive media reports, as he would have been a big figure by then. Dr. King did visit the UK on a number of occasions but he was not in the UK around the time of this famous speech in 1963.”Prof. John Belcham, a history lecturer of University of Liverpool who wrote an 800year history of Liverpool in 2008, confirmed that he was unaware of any connection between Dr. King and the city.

________.

A.Liverpool Discovers was created to remember Martin Luther King

B.many famous political speeches in history were delivered in Liverpool

C.most people think Liverpool is known for the famous speech “I Have a Dream”

D.the claim that “I Have a Dream” was written in Liverpool still lacks evidence

2.The guide offers relevant information about ________.

A.the places associated with celebrities

B.the families of celebrities

C.the contributions of celebrities

D.the daily life of celebrities

3.What can we infer from the last paragraph?

A.Godfrey held a negative attitude towards Dr. King.

B.There were some arguments about whether Dr. King wrote the speech himself.

C.The connection between Dr. King and Liverpool was doubted by some experts.

D.John was unaware of any connection between Dr. King and Liverpool.

4.What would be the best title for this passage?

A.Martin Luther King and His Speech

B.Is Liverpool Connected to Martin Luther King?

C.Liverpool Is a Good Choice for Holidaymakers

D.The Most Famous People in Liverpool
