He wanted to do something to keep himself busy, so he decided to volunteer at the local children’s hospital．My dad loved kids．It was the perfect job for him．He ended up working with the seriously ill children．He would talk，play, and do arts with them．
One of his kids was a girl with a rare disease that paralyzed(瘫痪)her from the neck down．She couldn’t do anything，and she was very depressed．My dad decided to try to help her．He started visiting her in her room，bringing paints，brushes and paper．He stood the paper up，put the paintbrush in his mouth and began to paint．He didn’t use his hands at a11．All the while he would tell her, “See，you can do anything you set your mind to．’’
At the end of the day, she began to paint using her mouth，and she and my dad became friends．Soon after, the little girl was sent home because the doctors felt there was nothing else they could do for her．My dad also left the children’s hospital for a little while because he became i11．Some time later after my dad had recovered and returned to work，in came the little girl who had been paralyzed and only this time she was walking．She ran straight over to my dad and hugged him really tight．She gave him a picture she had done using her hands．At the bottom it read：“Thank you for helping me walk．’’
My dad would cry every time he told US this story and SO would we．He would say sometimes love is more powerful than doctor, and my dad—who died just a few months after the little girl gave the picture--loved every single child in that hospital．

With more and more cars come into our families, we are happy that it has greatly improved our life. But unlucky, it has also brought many problems, such heavy traffic and traffic accidents.
Traffic safety is everybody’s business. We must obey the rules. For examples, we must walk on the sidewalks. When we cross zebra–crossing, stop and look right and left, and then go across fast. Don’t play the football on the road. Beside, we can tell our parents not to drink before we drive, not to run through red lights, not to use cell-phones while driven etc.
We can say cars are coming into our life, but only when everybody thought traffic safety is his or her business can we be safe driving on roads and walk on sidewalks.
It’s one way for a weasel (黄鼠狼) to get around: taking a ride on the back of a woodpecker (啄木鸟) . In fact, the picture shows the bird’s fight 1. life after the flesh-eating weasel jumped onto its back and attacked it. The extraordinary picture was taken by Martin Le-May, an amateur 2. I recently visited London and traveled on the tube while I was there. People were playing , reading articles and listening to music, and I’m sure that as soon as they from the train station they would start texting, calling or checking their emails. There is a constant to everyone in the world, you have a mobile phone in your hand.
Recently, my smart-phone broke and had to be to the warehouse for for a week or so. In the meantime I had to use a really , basic phone just to keep in touch with my family and friends. All I could do on this phone was send , make calls and play one game. And I loved it. I loved being free from the Internet, and I really didn’t mind not having constant about what my friends were doing or what the latest celebrity story was. It was quite and it allowed me to spend more time my surroundings—I could my time in London more, for example, and I could watch the people around me and really see what was going on.
, I knew that as soon as I got my smart-phone back I would be one of those people once again, to finding out what everyone is doing and my time playing games or checking social network sites. Perhaps I should just go back to using the basic phone and I ever got my smart-phone back...

The attraction of television is undeniable when it comes to kids. 1. Here are guidelines we created to help us decide what’s appropriate for our family:
Monitor television time. Choosing good shows isn’t a big issue if you’re not watching a lot of television, so really the best solution to finding appropriate television is saying, “Go play.” 2.
Don’t trust network ratings. A kid-approved stamp given by a television network is a general guide that doesn’t take into account your parenting style and the things your family feels are important. 3. There are plenty of adult cartoon shows on television now, many with highly inappropriate topics.
4. The bottom line is, I want to know what my kids are watching, and if the TV is on my time in our home, I want to first approve of the show ahead of time, and second to watch it with my kids so that I’m aware of anything they might be seeing that needs intervention(干涉).
Talk about the show with your kids. As kids get older, we realize that we can’t shelter them from every single person/show/behavior that doesn’t fit exactly with our values. They’re going to hear a swear word from time to time—and might walk into the room while the characters in the romantic comedy we’re watching are kissing. 5.
