How to Host a Successful Party
Everyone loves a party but when you’re the host, making sure the event goes as planned can be stressful. Before the big day, take some time to prepare well and you’ll have a better chance of throwing a successful party.
Pick a theme for your party. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated. 1. A loved one’s homecoming, a wedding announcement, and a block party to meet the neighbors are only a few examples of party themes.
Send out the invitations. Generally, guests should receive their invitations two weeks before the party. 2. If a guest will be traveling a long way, the earlier they get the invitation, the better.
3. If you’re hosting a party at home, look at your surroundings with a critical（挑剔的） eye. Put small articles away for a clean look and add some decorations to make the room more festive.
Plan your food list and shop ahead of time. 4. If you’re the host, you will need lots of advance notice of your menu and the number of guests you are expecting.
Double-check the details the night before the party. Do a quick walkthrough, starting at your front door, and make sure there’s an area for guests’ coats. 5. Finally, count your serving plates and glasses to make sure there are enough.

Air pollution is still the most serious. It’s bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.
Many countries are making rules to fight pollution. They stop people from burning coal in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air. Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. We are sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is our home. We must take care of it. That means keeping the land, water and air clean. And we must take care of the rise in pollution at the same time.

Popeye the Sailor first became a popular cartoon in the 1930s.The sailor in that cartoon ate lots of spinach to make him strong. People watched him, and they began to buy and eat a lot more spinach. Popeye helped sell 33 percent more spinach than before! Spinach became a necessary part of many people’s diets. Even some children who hated the taste began to eat the vegetable.
Many people thought that the iron in spinach made Popeye strong, but this is not true. Spinach does not have any more iron than any other green vegetable.
People only thought spinach had a lot of iron because the people who studied the food made a mistake. In the 1890s, a group of people studied what was inside vegetables. This group said that spinach had ten times more iron than it did. The group wrote the number wrong, and everyone accepted it.

I enter an Internet bar near my home the other day. To my amazed, I met many students there, listening to music, chatting with strangers or watch movies. But we should consider the Internet bar a window for us to learn something rather than a place for fun. We can benefit greatly if making a good use of it. I suggest schools can take active measure to stop students spending much time on the Internet.
