Dear Editor, I'm a senior high school student, named Li Hua. Nowadays, it's fashionable for young students to have iPads. Using an iPad, we can listen to music, download a lot of learning materials and read them. Obviously, it's of great help with our studies, especially with our English listening skills. Some students, however, bring their iPads to the classroom listening to music with earphones, and some even playing video games, which makes teachers and students greatly annoyed. In my opinion, the classroom is a place to study, and concentration is terribly needed. Therefore, we should make good use of iPads and other modern communication tools to help with our lessons. Meanwhile, schools should make some rules to instruct the students to use iPads properly. 语法方面:现在分词表伴随状况①Using an iPad,②listening to music with earphones;定语从句which makes teachers and students greatly annoyed等,语法知识运用娴熟,显示了较强的语法功底,也使作文句式变得多样; 篇章结构方面:范文注意使用nowadays, obviously, especially, however, therefore, meanwhile等来衔接句子和段落,使表达变得更有条理; 短语和搭配方面:范文使用了listen to, of great help, in my opinion, make good use of, help with等短语和搭配,使作文的内容变得充实。 考点:书信类作文

Mrs. Janes gave music lessons at a school. She had a good voice and enjoyed singing, except that some of her high tones sound like a gate that had forgotten to oil. Mrs. Janes knew her weakness well, and took every chance she could find to practise these high notes. As she lived in a small house, where she could not practise without disturbing the rest of the family, she usually went for long walks along the country roads whenever she had time and practised her high notes there. Whenever she heard a car or a person coming along the road, she stopped and waited until she could no longer be heard before she started practicing again, because she was a shy person.

One afternoon, a fast, opened car came up behind her so silently and so fast that she didn't hear it until it was only a few yards from her. She was singing some of her highest and most difficult tones at that time and as the car passed; she saw an anxious expression came over the driver's face. Today, roller skating is easy and fun. But a long time ago, it wasn't easy at all. Before 1750, the idea of skating didn't exist. That changed because of a man named Joseph Merlin. Merlin's work was making musical instruments. In his spare time he liked to play the violin. Joseph Merlin was a man of ideas and dreams. People called him a dreamer.

Merlin tried different ways to make himself roll. Finally, he decided to put two wheels under each shoe. These were the first roller skates. Merlin was very proud of his invention and dreamed of arriving at the party on wheels while playing the violin.

On the night of the party Merlin rolled into the room playing his violin. Everyone was astonished to see him. There was just one problem. Merlin had no way to stop his roller skates.
