Dolphins are my favorite animals. They live on fish, shrimps () and so on. They are mammals (哺乳动物). Their babies are born in the water. They can grow up to three meters and a half as their parents. Dolphins live in groups and speak to each other in their own language. But they are quite different from almost all land animals. Their brain is as big as humans’, so they are very clever. People often train them so that they can give dolphin shows which can bring people lots of happiness and joy.  Dolphins can live a long life—at least 20 or 30 years.   Like some other animals, dolphins use sounds to help them find their way around. They also use these sounds to talk to each other and to help them find food. So sound is like their eyes and mouths. They do not use their ears to receive sounds, but use the jaws (下颚)- the lower part of the mouth.

Dolphins are friendly and peaceful. They never hurt people. Instead, they have saved many people in danger. For thousands of years, there are many stories about dolphins and humans. In the 19th century, in a dangerous part of the sea near New Zealand, there was a dolphin. The seamen liked him very much and gave him a very good name, Jack. From 1871 to 1903, Jack met every boat in the area and showed it the way. In1903, a passenger on a boat with the name of “The Penguin” shot and hurt Jack. Luckily, the dolphin didn’t die, and after a long time, he was well again. He guides the boats through the area for nine more years, but he refused to help the boat “The Penguin”.

Unluckily, the number of the dolphins is getting smaller and smaller today. Some people still kill dolphins for money. If we don’t protect them, maybe we will lose our good friends one day. As a student, I hope more and more people should take action to protect dolphins.

1.Dolphins are not only fish but also mammals.

2.Dolphins use their jaws to receive sounds.

3.Jack is a name of a seaman.

4.At last, Jack didn’t help the ship “The Penguin” any more.

1. 根据文中“They are mammals (哺乳动物). ” 它们是哺乳动物。可知这个说法“Dolphins are not only fish but also mammals.” 根据文中“They do not use their ears to receive sounds, but use the jaws (下颚)- the lower part of the mouth. ” 它们不使用耳朵来接收声音,而是用下颚(下颚)来接收声音。这个说法“Dolphins use their jaws to receive sounds.” 故选A。 3. 根据文中“In the 19th century, in a dangerous part of the sea near New Zealand, there was a dolphin. The seamen liked him very much and gave him a very good name, Jack. ” 19世纪,在新西兰附近的一个危险海域,有一只海豚。水手们非常喜欢他,给他起了一个很好的名字,杰克。可知这个说法“Jack is a name of a seaman.” 根据文中“He guides the boats through the area for nine more years, but he refused to help the boat “The Penguin”. ” 他又指导这些船只在这片海域航行了9年,但他拒绝帮助“企鹅”号船。这个说法“At last, Jack didn’t help the ship “The Penguin” any more.” 故选A。
