What will the house of the future look like? Could it have gardens on its walls, or a pool with fish for dinner? Architects believe that they are all possibilities. The only thing for sure is that the house will be as green as possible.
The tree house
Many architects in the world would like to build a “tree house”. Like a left, the surface of the house collects sunlight during the day. The energy can be used to heat water, produce electricity, and even create fresh air for the home. The “root”(根) of the house is deep under the ground.
The Lizard house
Like a lizard, changing colour with the weather is the most important, design of a lizard house. When it’s in the bright sun, the cover of the house will turn dark to protect it from strong heat. During dark days, it turns white and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.
Meals at home
This design is perhaps as much about the future of food production as architecture(建筑风格). It has gardens on the outside wall of the house. People can plant tomatoes, carrots and green tea on them. So every day in the morning, you just need to walk outside and collect your meals.
Learning from the past
Looking to the future isn’t the only way to be green. Sometimes, ancient techniques(古老的技术) can also help cut down energy use.For example, a chimney can be a useful air conditioner because it is easier for hot air to flow out at the chimney.

Will you remember to water the plants? If the plants are in space, will watering be difficult?NASA(美国宇航局)has plans to plant the first garden on the moon in 2051——and it might mean that we are closer to live in space.
The garden will have many vegetables such as carrots. People will keep the seeds in a special box, with a supply(供给装置)of air and water to get them started. Robert Bowman, a scientist working on the project, talked to a news reporter about the meaning of the garden.
The plants will feed astronauts and moon colonists(移民). We’re chosen many important plants because people are going to live there. As we all know, many years ago, the astronauts only walked on the moon, they stopped for a while and then came home. When you want to go shopping, decide how much money you can spend on new clothes.
Think about the kind of clothes you really need. Then look for those clothes you really need.
Then look for those clothes on sale.
There are labels(标签)inside all new clothes. The labels tell you how to take care of your clothes. The label for a shirt may tell you to wash it in warm water. A sweater label may tell you to wash it in cold winter. The label on a coat may say ”dry clean only ”, for washing may ruin this coat. If you do as the directions(说明) on the label, you can keep your clothes looking their best for a long time.
Many clothes today must be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning is expensive. When buying new clothes, check to see if they will need to be dry cleaned. You will save money if you buy clothes that can be washed.
