E)阅读下面的短文,从每小题所给的ABC 三个选项中选出最佳选项。

Nate Damm went from Delaware to San Francisco in 2011. Did the trip take four hours? No. It took longer. Eight hours? No. Much longer. A few weeks? No. It took even longer than that. The trip took him over seven months. Why did it take so long? Damm walked across the United States. He walked more than 3,000 miles across 14 states.

Someone asked Damm, “Wouldn't it be faster if you just drove?” Well, arriving wasn't the point.

Damm grew up in Maine. He never traveled farther west than Pennsylvania. He often thought about traveling to other countries, but then he realized he didn't know much about the United States. So he decided to walk across the country. By walking, he felt more connected to the people and the land.

In the beginning, Damm walked about 13 miles a day. Then he started walking longer distances. One day in Colorado, he walked 41 miles.

At first, Damm used GPS (全球定位系统) to find his way, but the directions it gave him were often wrong. He bought a paper road map and found it was much better. He avoided major highways (主路); the smaller roads were safer.

Damm is not the only person to cross the United States on foot. About ten to twenty people do it every year.

In September 1991, two German tourists were on holiday in the Alps (阿尔卑斯山脉). One day, they were walking along a road when they saw something in the ice. They stopped and looked. It was part of a body. They thought it was a climber, but they were wrong. This body was over 5300 years old. It was a man from the Stone Age (石器时代).

Ötzi, as the archaeologists (考古学家) called him, lived between 3350 BC and 3100 BC. He came from northern Italy and he was about forty-six years old. He was about 1.6 meters tall, and he had blue eyes and long, dark brown hair. We know that he was a farmer because scientists found pieces of corn in his clothes.

He changed our ideas about the Stone Age. Before Ötzi, archaeologists thought that copper () didn't arrive in Europe until 2000 BC. However, Ötzi was carrying a copper ax (斧头) 1, 300 years earlier. He was also carrying a knife and some wooden tools. He was wearing warm clothes. These things show that Stone Age people were more amazing than we had thought.

1.How old was the body that the two German tourists found in the ice?

_________________________________________________________________________

2.Ötzi was about sixty years old when he died, wasn't he?

________________________________________________________________________

3.What was Ötzi's height?

4.Why was Ötzi thought to be a farmer?

5.What was Ötzi carrying when he died?
