On March 14, one of science’s brightest stars went dark. Stephen Hawking, the world-famous British scientist, died at 76 in Cambridge, UK.
Hawking is considered by many to be the greatest scientist in history since Albert Einstein. He came up with the theory that the universe began with the Big Bang and will end in black holes. His theories became the base for a lot of later research. He also wrote books to help common people understand the universe(宇宙).His most famous best-seller is A Brief History of Time, which has sold more than 10 million copies around the world, according to CNN.

Hawking traveled the world to attend science meetings, visiting every continent(大陆),including Antarctica. He was also a fan of pop culture and appeared on TV shows such as Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory. He celebrated his 60th birthday by going up in a hot-air balloon; when he was 65, he took part in a zero-gravity flight to experience weightlessness. He hoped to travel into space one day.

World catches computer virus
When a virus ( 病毒) comes into our body, we get sick. The same thing can also happen to a computer. Avirus may destroy (破坏) the software (软件) and make it stop working.
Since May 12,a computer virus, WannaCry, has infected (感染) computers in over 150 countries, including Russia and the United Kingdom. It has hit tens of thousands of computers in China, reported Beijing Morning Post.
Once WannaCry gets into the computer, it locks all the documents (文件) and asks for money from the user. At first, it asks for $300 (2,068yuan) to give all the documents back. If the user doesn’t send the money in 72 hours, the price goes up to $600. It will lock the document forever if the user doesn’t pay in seven days.
The WannaCry virus is the most serious one in history, according to Europol (欧盟刑警组织). Users should update (更新) the new Microsoft security patch (安全补丁) and not open unknown emails.

Twelve years ago, I learned an important life lesson in the back of a taxi in the New York City.
I got into a taxi and we drove to Grand Central Station. While we were d1.in the right lane ( 车道), a black car s2. jumped out of a parking space just in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes (猛踩 刹车), skidded (打滑) and missed the other car by several inches! The driver of the other car, the guy who almost c3.a big accident, started saying bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.
I asked him. “W4. did you just do that? This guy almost hit your car and could have sent us to hospital !” He said, “Many people are like rubbish trucks(卡车). They run around full of r5.. They need a place to dump it. When someone wants to dump on you, just s 6., wave, wish them well, and move on. You’ll be happier if you do like that.”
I thought his words were very m7.. I couldn’t help a8.myself. “How often do I allow this kind of people to dump rubbish on me? And how often do I take their rubbish and spread it onto other people: at work, at home, on the streets?” On that day I realized. “ I’m not going to do it any more.”
S9.then, I have started to see people like rubbish trucks e10. And like my taxi driver, I just smile, wave, wish them well, and then I move on.
