Life in an English school
Hi, everybody. My name is Nancy. I am in Grade 8 at Woodland School near London. It is a mixed school. Boys and girls have lessons together. Among all my subjects, I like French best. Learning foreign languages is fun.
Our school has a Reading Week every year. During the week, we can borrow more books from the school library. We can also bring in books and magazines from home. I often read more books than my classmates. Near the end of the week, we discuss the books with our classmates in class.

Yesterday was Chinese New Year’s Eve. My family usually has New Year’s Eve dinner at home, but this year we went to the Sunflower Restaurant for this special dinner. Both my grandparents came from the coutryside to join us.
We sat in a room big enough for one table. We ordered some cold dishes first, and then our main dishes, desserts and drinks. For cold dishes, we ordered peanuts, smoked fish, cucumber, chicken and salad. Our main dishes are steak, pork chops, shrimp, roast duck, spinach, and mushroom soup.
