D. Stop riding in cars.

E. Recycle paper.

F. Use the car less often.

We know our planet is getting warmer. The earth needs help. “What can I do?” you may ask and you may think you are just a kid. In fact, everyone can do something to help. What can you do?

1. Don't ask your parents to drive you somewhere when you could easily walk or ride your bike. The car is one of the biggest causes of the pollution. Getting more exercise is good for your body, too.

2. Recycling means reusing something old to make new things. Newspapers, old magazines, phone books and white paper can be recycled. Recycling a ton of paper can save seventeen trees. Visiting your town's recycling center. Learn the rules and start to recycle.

3. Buying used things is cheaper than buying new things. Sell or give away your used things and toys to those needed. They can use them again instead of buying the new ones. Reuse plastic or glass bottles instead of throwing them away in the trash. Reuse the plastic bags when shopping.

4. Turn off the water when you brush your teeth. Turn off lights, radios, TVs, computers, and other electrical things when you leave the room. When you don't use the computer, shut it down. It saves much electricity if you let it “sleep”.

5. Don't buy single-use water bottles. Use a glass or plastic container(容器) that can be washed and reused. Use a lunch box or bag instead of paper bags to pack lunches for school or picnics.

What we do today affects our future generations. Let's take care of the earth!

As the weather gets warmer, there are few things that are better to do than travel. But traveling might not be that fun for everyone, especially for those who have motion sickness(晕动症).

Motion sickness is also called travel sickness. It is a common experience for many people. Depending on how you travel, it can be called carsickness or seasickness. People with motion sickness feel very uncomfortable while they are in motion. They feel sick and dizzy(眩晕的), like the room around them won't stop turning.

It is generally believed that motion sickness happens when your senses become confused with each other, Scientific American reported.

We use different parts of our body to sense movement. Our eyes tell us if we are moving. The inner ears(内耳) contain a special liquid(液体)that helps us sense our direction and balance. Our muscles(肌肉)react to movement.

When you move around, these body parts work well together. But when you are in a car or an airplane, they get confused. Your inner ear gives off the information that you’re moving, but your eyes say you’re sitting still because you can’t see that you’re moving. This mismatch(不适配) gives us motion sickness.

But some people are less sensitive to motion sickness. This may be because they have certain genes(基因) that prevent mismatching senses, Bethann Hromatka, a genetics expert from the US, told the Atlantic.

Although there are many ways to deal with motion sickness, scientists believe that the key is to simply try to get used to it. For example, some astronauts do special exercises that give them mild(轻微的) motion sickness. After a week or two, the astronauts become used to it and don’t feel uncomfortable anymore, Sam Puma, a NASA flight doctor, told the BBC.

1.What do we know about motion sickness?

A.It is called carsickness when you travel by car.

B.It happens to only a small number of people.

C.It can make traveling more fun.

D.It causes the room to turn continuously.

2.How do people feel if they have motion sickness?

A.Worried and angry. B.Sick and dizzy. C.Thirsty. D.Sleepy.

3.Why do some people have motion sickness?

A.Because their senses stop working.

B.Because they lose their sense of direction.

C.Because their eyes can't see properly.

D.Because there is a mismatch among their senses.

4.The astronauts are mentioned to show that ______.

A.it is impossible for others to deal with motion sickness

B.astronauts can easily get used to motion sickness

C.special exercises can help deal with motion sickness

D.motion sickness has something to do with genes

Preparing to go to Chinese university is tiring enough. But when studying abroad, you need to worry about things like new tests, essays, recommendations(推荐信), college choices and visa applications(签证申请).

The first thing you should do after picking the country you want to study in is to make a list of universities, including a dream school (a school you may not get into, but is at the top of your list), a safety school (a school you can definitely get into), and several schools in between. Look at the websites of those universities and you will get a complete list of everything you need for your applications.

The most important in any application will be your test scores, so pick a time as early as possible to take an exam preparation course.

If you are in a lecture hall with a teacher telling jokes, you are probably just wasting your time. As a reference point(参照标准), US students who attend top universities spend between 500 to 1,000 hours studying for the SAT, so probably you should do more.

You are also going to need to think about how to tell a story about yourself. Chinese students are well-known for being very hardworking, but also for sometimes short of creativity(创造力).

You need to show the university that you are excellent because of your own personality, not because your parents have forced you to be excellent.

Are you interested in sports? Make sure to play on your school’s team. Universities want to see that you have interests of your own and can show initiative(主动性).

Finally, find an agent(代理人) to help you finish the application. You will need this help, but be as cautious as you can. Some agents will try their best to help students achieve their dreams but there are also ones who care more about the fees paid by students.

When you have good friends, the best way to get to know them better is to have a sleepover(睡衣派对). A sleepover usually includes having a party and sleeping next to your good friends all night.

In the UK, friends have sleepovers very often. Some have them once every weekend or just once every month. When you want to have a sleepover with your friends, your parents can call or text your friends’ parents to ask about a suitable date. Then, you have to arrange(安排) whose house you'll stay at — your own or your friends’ house. The last step is to finish your homework before you get together with your friends so you can enjoy your time together.

But there is one problem: What if the parents don't want so many children to be in the house all day? Well, parents can find somewhere to take the children. It could be a park, a swimming pool, a theater or just somewhere down the road.

There are many fun games you can play with your friends at a sleepover. You can have a water fight in the garden. You can play hide-and-seek in the house. While you play, you can enjoy popcorn and candy. If you don’t want to play games, you can just chat with your friends about whatever you want to share.
