Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hours 1. catching anything. But this does not worry me. Some fishermen are unlucky. 2.of catching fish, they catch old shoes and rubbish(垃圾). I am even less lucky. I 3. catch anything ... not even old shoes. After, having spent whole mornings on the river I always go home with an empty bag. "You must give 4.fishing!" my friends say.

"It's a waste(浪费)of time." But they don't know one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. I'm only interested in sitting in a boat doing 5. at all!

1.without 2.Instead 3.never 4.up 5.nothing 【解析】 短文主要介绍了“我”的爱好是钓鱼,但是从来没有钓到一条鱼。 根据下文“…go home with an empty bag.”可知,作者经常没钓到一条鱼。故答案为without。 2.句意:一些钓鱼人不太幸运。他们钓旧鞋子和垃圾,就是没有钓到鱼。 根据上文“Some fishermen are unlucky”以及下文“they catch old shoes and rubbish(垃圾)”可知,一些钓鱼的人没有钓到鱼,反而会钓到旧鞋子和垃圾,且横线后of提示,此处考查词组instead of代替,而不是;注意句首首字母大写。 根据“I'm only interested in sitting in a boat”可知前文没有一个否定词,而后文有at all, 所以空格处需要填一个词表示否定意义的词。故答案为nothing。

High school students in England do much the same as those in America or any other country do. They enjoy using the Internet, telephoning their friends, going travelling, listening to music, watching movies on TV or at the cinema.

However, a new study shows that 15-year-olds in England have more fights than those in Canada, Australia and China. This has to do with how they spend their free time. In England, for example, 45% of 15-year-olds spend most evenings out with their friends. And in Canada, the number is 24%. In China, just 17% of 15-year-olds spend their free time in the same way. And in Australia, 15% of 15-year-olds spend their evenings out with their friends.

Another new study shows that the Internet is English students' favorite hobby. They spend about 31 hours a week online. One in four students of the 1,000 polled (接受民意测试的)said they often spoke to those they didn't know online and one in three said they tried to hide(藏)what they were looking at if a parent went into the room. But the study also shows that children also use Internet to help them with their homework. They spend at least three hours a week finding information.

Denny and Mark went to Sun Mountain with their class last week. The first day was great. Everyone enjoyed snowball fights. The next day was very cold and no one wanted to go out. "I'll not spend the day inside!" said Mark. He and Denny went out together.

By noon the boys went into the forest. They had a walk happily, but they lost their way. Before they could find the way, snow began to fall heavily. They were very afraid.
