Do you ever go back to your old school sometimes? In the US, there is a festival called Homecoming. At Homecoming, a school welcomes its old students. That is where the name comes from. It means, “coming home”.
Homecoming is usually in autumn. It goes on for a week. There are many fun activities.
The most exciting activity might be picking the homecoming king and queen. There is a group of boys and girls, and they are the nominees (候选人). Students choose one boy and one girl. The final (最终的) winners are king and queen.
Another big activity is the football game. Almost everyone from school can join the game: students, old students, parents and teachers.
You can also see a parade (游行) with floats (花车). Each class makes the floats by themselves. The school’s marching (行进的) band will be in the parade too.
