根据短文内容,从下面方框中选择适当的选项补全短文。

Every living thing on our planet depends on another for survival (生存). 1. and influence each other and the environments in which they live in. Humans, of course, are a part of this web of life and we depend on it just like everything else does. 2. because they’re needed in order to help crops grow and fungi (真菌) are needed in order to keep the soil healthy. And from the natural world we get the fresh water that we drink and the medicine that we take when we’re ill and we get some pretty amazing views as well.

Now losing one species, that might not seem like a lot. 3. If something happens to one species, then it weakens the others because there’ s a knock on effect (连锁效应). Imagine if you will, like a house, and someone takes a brick out of the house. It leaves the wall pretty weak. 4. So that’s why nature’s crisis is one for humans too.

A. If more bricks were to disappear, the whole thing would come falling down.

B. Around the world, different species (物种) live with each other,

C. Plants produce the oxygen we breathe and bees and other pollinators (传粉者),

D. But because everything is so connected, actually, it is a big deal.

1.由文中前一句“Every living thing on our planet depends on another for survival”可知地球上的生物都是相互依存的,后文又提到“influence each other”互相影响,只有B项“在世界各地,不同的物种相互依存”符合上下文之间的句意,故选B。 2.由后文“because they’re needed in order to help crops grow”因为他们被农作物所需要,可知,此处讲的是蜜蜂和传粉者,所以C项符合题意,故选C。 3.根据后文举的例子“If something happens to one species, then it weakens the others because there’ s a knock on effect” 如果有什么事情发生在一个物种身上,它就会削弱其他物种,这种连锁反应便意味着生物之间都是紧密相连的,所以D项符合题意,故选D。 4.前文讲到“Imagine if you will, like a house, and someone takes a brick out of the house. It leaves the wall pretty weak”这个世界就像一所房子,拿走一块砖都会让这个房子很脆弱,后文讲到“So that’s why nature’s crisis is one for humans too”大自然的危机也是人类的危机,只有A项如果更多的砖块消失,整个东西就会倒下来这样的危机可以联系起上下文,故选A。

We can’t remember clearly since when we started to take our mobiles to a dinner table. This happens a lot, especially when we eat out. Once a dish comes, instead of lifting our chopsticks, we take out our mobiles and click. Later, we post the photos onto Weibo or Wechat, waiting to be “liked”. Then we check our mobiles from time to time during the meal, to see whether we get “liked” or not. We just cannot leave our mobiles for only a meal.

Does that sound familiar to you? Do you do that often? If not, how do you feel when others do that when having dinner with you?

A recent study suggests that what we are used to doing is not so good. Spending time taking photos of food makes the food less pleasant. To test this, some researchers did an experiment. Some people were asked to take photos before they could enjoy food. As a result, it showed that the more photos they took, the less delicious the food seemed to them. So, why not stop taking photos and just enjoy the food in front of you?

Besides the scientific result, there are also some other bad influences of taking photos of food before meals. After posting the photos onto the Internet, one will not be able to control himself and check his mobile many times. “Does everyone like my photos? I hope a lot of people like them!” It seems that your mobile secretly calls your name all the time, even when you are with real people.

So, next time you go out to have dinner with your family or friends, how about not taking photos of food? Let the food be delicious as it is and share your life with people around you. Trust me, it will be a wonderful time.

A.We take out our mobiles and click when a dish comes.

B.We check our mobiles from time to time during the meal.
