Cui Qingtao, a nineteen-year-old boy will never forget the day when he received his admission letter(录取通知书)from Beijing University on July 22nd, 2018. He was excited to get the good news while working at a construction site(工地)with his parents at that time. All the family had expected the big day for a long time.
Cui was accepted as a student in the School of Journalism and Communication of this famous university with 669 points in the College Entrance Examination. Such great news spread quickly throughout the small village in Yunnan Province where he lived.
As the oldest son in the poor family, Cui has a younger brother in high school and a sister in the fourth grade of a primary school. To support his family, the caring boy would get up at 3 o'clock a. m. to water plants in the family's greenhouses with his brother when he came home during the school holiday. And on Sundays, Cui would do some construction work with his parents to make money.
"No pain, no gain. Don't worry about what a terrible life you have. If you try your best to study, your dream will come true for sure. Now I'm leaving my home village for college, but I'll return to change the poor conditions of our village someday, "Cui said.
"His starting point is different from other students', and I hope his future will be bright," one Internet user said on Chinese social media(媒体)site Weibo.
