Chinese people call the Spring Festival “Nian”. But do you know that Nian is once the name of a monster(妖怪)?
The monster Nian lives in the mountains. It eats animals. But in winter, it can not find food. So it comes to villages and eats a lot of people.
People are so afraid of Nian that they close their doors before evening comes during the winter. One day, an old man comes to a village.
