Escaping () from a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. It is important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family, for example, you can use stairways, roofs and fire escapes, but no lifts. From the lower floors of buildings, to escape through windows is possible. The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. It is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building. Windows are also useful while you are waiting for help.

Here are some tips on how to stay safe in earthquakes. Stay inside and cover. Duck and get under a desk or table, or stand in a corner or under a doorway. Cover your head and neck with your arms. Stay in your seat if in a cinema or a theater. Get below the level of the back of the seat and cover your head and neck with your arms. Try to stay away from kitchens, where there are often many objects that might fall or get hurt.

It is necessary for all to keep the traffic rules in mind and obey them strictly. When one crosses the street, he should take the cross walk(斑马线), underground passage or pedestrian overpass (人行天桥).     When you visit a foreign country, it is important to know how to ask for help politely. For example, “Where are the restrooms?” or “Could you please tell me where the restrooms are?” are correct English, but the first one sounds less polite. We also need to learn how to be polite by being less direct when we ask for help.

In English, as in Chinese, we change the way we speak when we talk with different people. The expressions you use might depend on whom you are speaking to or how well you know them. If you say to your teacher, “When is the school trip.’’, this might sound impolite. But if you say, “Excuse me, Mr. West. Do you know when the school trip is?’’, this will sound much more polite. However, it is all right to ask direct questions with your classmates.

It is important to learn how to use proper language. This will also help you become better at English, or any other language you wish to speak.

根据短文内容判断下列句子意思与原文是否相符,相符的写T,不相符的写F

1.It’s important to be polite in a foreign country.

2.We needn’t learn how to be polite when we ask for help.
