Who was the man?

The big red American car was too wide for an English country road. When Jack saw it coming toward him, he stopped his own car at the side of the road to make room for it to pass. The American car went slowly past, so close that he could see the driver's face quite clearly.

There was a picture of the face in it. Yes, it had a large mouth and small ears, and his eyes were behind dark glasses.

‘Wanted by the police,’ read by Jack. ‘The City Bank will give a lot of money to anyone who helps the police to catch this man.’

One bank teller started laughing and told him there wasn't any cash(现金) in the bank, and another bank teller made fun of him. They didn't believe that he had a gun in his pocket although he said so. One teller told him that if he wanted to steal money, he should first put some money in the bank. The other told him how to open a bank account and save money into it. At last Kearney threw down his plastic bag disappointedly and walked out of the bank. He was caught a few minutes later.
