Recently, the Ministry of Education(教育部) announced that teachers should not use WeChat or QQ to give homework or ask parents to grade kids’ homework.

Many teachers in China depend heavily on apps to give homework, The kids have to do their homework, staring at a phone screen. For example, Liu Yanming, a sixth-grade student in Shanghai, usually has to use his mother’s mobile phone to do his homework, Liu Yong. his father, is afraid that the apps could distract kids by encouraging them to watch something unrelated (无关的) to homework. “He is just 12 years old, and I do not want to buy him a cellphone,” Liu told China Daily. “I also worry that my son’s eyesight will be hurt because of staring at the phone for too long.

However, Bai Yueping, president of Shanghai Tangzhen Middle School, defended (辩护) using apps for homework. Parents can understand their kid’s learning situation and supervise (监督) them to finish the homework, Bai told China Daily.

    On June 2, 1886, a German captain threw a message in a bottle into the water while his ship crossed the Indian Ocean. Around 132 years later in January, the bottle was found on the Australian coast, making it the oldest-known message in a bottle in the world.

The bottle was thrown into the water to know about ocean waves(海浪)。 Between 1864 and 1933, German sailors threw thousands of bottles into the sea. About 663 of those messages were found later.

But throwing messages in bottles into the ocean is not just for scientists. People send out such messages for many reasons.     A call came into Jimmy Gilleece’s bar this past March. A newly married woman who had spent the afternoon at the dive(潜水) beach bar in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina couldn't find her wallet. She didn't care about her ID, credit cards, or $150--- but her wedding ring was inside it

Gilleece, 42, the boss of the bar, didn’t like the idea that there was a thief at his place. So he set out to find the wallet. He spent hours looking for the footage (录像) from 16 different cameras, watching the woman’s every step in the bar. Finally, a young man caught his eyes. He picked up something from the place where the woman stood and put it in his pocket.

Gilleece posted the picture on the bar’s Facebook and asked if anybody knew who the guy was. Within hours, 17-year-old Rivers Prather came and said he had taken the wallet and told Gilleece he'd done it because he hadn’t eaten for two days. He said he saw the ring but thought it was not real, so he took the money, and threw the wallet into the ocean. Then he bought a sandwich.

Prather wasn’t getting along with his family and lived in the woods for weeks. Gilleece saw him for what he was: more of a kid than a thief, Gilleece wanted to help him somehow. He found two local divers to search the waters where Prather the wallet. After waiting for hours worriedly but luckily, a diver came out from the water with the wallet in his hand, and inside was the ring.

“Most people would give the footage to police, but the boss chose to help me,” Prather told CBS News. “I say thank you to him every day. ”
