If you see a problem, then you should try to work it out. Alex Knoll always thinks so. He is a 12-year-old boy from Post Falls, Idaho, in the United States.
Three years ago, a man couldn’t open a heavy door from a wheelchair. Alex saw it and wanted to help him find automatic doors.
However, there was no way for the disabled to look for such service. So he made an app called Ability App.
The app can help disabled people learn about access before they go somewhere. It gives information such as locations of wheelchair ramps and restaurants with Braille menus. Sometimes, people can also make friends using it.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres liked Alex’s idea. She had him on her show and surprised him with a $25,000(163,200yuan) to improve the app. Alex has yet to set a date for his app to come out. But he wants to make it happen as soon as possible.
