My name is Sam. I joined a club called “passing help” last month. Now let me tell you why I joined it.
One evening this May, on my way home my old car broke down(出故障).It was 25 miles from my home. I wanted to get a ride(搭便车), but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to a bus stop nearby.
After a while, a bus came, but it did not go to my town. the bus driver was a young woman. She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes, but no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car .She was just the bus driver.
“When I reached the bus station,I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come ,so I returned here. I just can't leave you here ,”she said , “ Get in my car and I will take you back to your home.”
“It is a long way.” I said.
“Come on,sir, ”she said,“Let's go.”
On the way,she told me a story. A few days ago, there wasn't gas(汽油)in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.
When we got to my home,I wanted to give her some money to thank her,but she didn't accept her.“I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along. ” she said.

A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow(乌鸦) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(鄙视).
“You have no flying skills at all!” he said to the swans.
“All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, that’s beyond you. Let’s have a flying competition. I’ll show you what real flying is!”
One of the swans, a strong young male, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He flew in circles, performed other flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.
Now it was the swan’s turn. He flew up, and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments (评价) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn’t see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments. He was now so exhausted that he found it hard to stay in the air, and had to struggle to keep himself from falling into the water.
The swan pretended(假装) not to notice, and said, “Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?”
“No,” said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition.
“I’m in trouble because of my pride! If you don’t help me, I’ll lose my life…”
The swan took pity on him, and took him on his shoulders and flew back to the beach.

We all have days when we are down, tired and unhappy. That’s OK. You need days like this, or how can you know you are happy? You’ll enjoy your good days even more when you have a few bad days. Even if sadness is part of life, let’s try to make it small. Here are a few simple ways to help you feel better when you are feeling sad.
First, stand up straight and this helps your energy flow (流动). When your energy is flowing freely, you can flow too. Second, smile! A smile takes little effort but produces good results. It can bring not only you but also people around you a good mood. Third, listen to music. It can be the music that you like best. Some kinds of music work better than others, so try and find out what kind of music works the best for you. Fourth, take some “me” time. You can find pleasure in reading a book, watching a sunrise or having a hot bath, or something like that. Last but not least, exercise. Even something as simple as taking a walk will get your blood flowing. It is a great way to clear your mind of anything that makes you sad.
These ways will cheer you up when you are down, but don’t just use them when you are sad. Try and practise them every day to make them a habit. You will be surprised to learn that these simple ways will keep your sadness away. But if you are in a deep depression (沮丧), go to see a doctor.
