Once upon a time,there lived a clever man in Xinjiang.His name was Afanti.The king of his country was very bad.The people lived an unhappy life.But they couldn’t talk more about that.Because if the king knew their complaints(抱怨),he would kill them.But Afanti wasn’t afraid of the king.He often rode his donkey(驴)and walked around.And he complained about the king all the time.Then the king knew about it and sent for Afanti.He said to Afanti,“I hear that you are very clever.I will ask you some questions.if you can’t answer them.I will kill you!”Afanti answered.“Just do it!”   

“How many stars are there in the sky?”the king asked.

    “The stars are as many as your beards(胡须),”Afanti answered quietly.

    “Then,how many hairs does my beard have?”

    Afanti thought for a while anti took his donkey’s tail.He pointed at the king’s beard and said,“Your beard has as many hairs as my donkey’s tail.If you don’t believe(相信)it,you can count them.’’

This happened about one thousand and seven hundred years ago.One day somebody sent Cao Cao,the king of Wei an elephant.Cao Cao wanted to know its weight(重量).“Who can think of a way to weigh it?”he asked.But nobody knew what to do.because there was nothing big enough to weigh it.
