任务型阅读阅读下列短文,根据短文中的信息完成文后表格。(每空一词)

Do you ever feel like you are just running from one activity to another? In school do you rush from one subject to another?

When things happen so fast it is easy to get lost of what you are doing or learning. It is important to stop yourself every now and then to think about what you’ve been doing or learning.

Self-reflection(反省) means slowing down and calming yourself including calming your mind. By being calm and going slowly you give your brain a chance to think about what it has already received. Some people prefer to do these self-reflections only in their mind. Others keep a diary or written notes. Either method works depending on your own personal learning.

School textbooks are divided into units of study. This makes it easier for someone to begin self-reflection. Look for time when you complete a unit of study in the subjects you are learning such as math science and art. Sometimes you know the unit is over because there is some kind of test. Use these natural breaks to stop and do self-reflection.

Find a quiet place. You can even be sitting at your desk at school when you finish something early and the other students are still working. If you are going to take notes take out paper or your reflection diary. Write down some notes on the new things that you learned in the unit. Let your mind think about the notes you have written and make some connections.

Next think about things that you are not sure of. Maybe you learned a new way to work out a math problem but you’re not sure when to use it. Writing down your questions will help you remember to look for answers the next time you are working with the same topic.

Self-reflection is important to a successful student. If you have never taken the time to do self-reflection try it now.

There are many colors in nature. But do you know if a color has weight? I think you’ll say “no”. But I am afraid you are wrong. If you don’t believe you may do a small experiment(实验).

First put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Third wrap(包裹) one box with a red piece of paper the other with a white piece of paper. OK. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.

Why do you think so? A scientist found that different colors have different weight in a man’s mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say every color has its own weight in our mind and their order is the same. The heaviest color is red then blue green orange yellow and white.

The scientist told us that colors also have smell. Can you smell the color? Of course not. Then why did the scientist say so? That is because every color stands for(代表) a kind of light with a certain wavelength(波长). It reaches our brain through sense organs.

According to this discovery scientists say that people accept the colors they like and refuse the colors they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. For example if you stay in a room with red windows wallpapers and furniture(家具) for two hours you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue you’ll feel you have been there for only an hour. Another example if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change with different colors.

One weekend in May 2015 over 48 centimeters of rain fell in Houston Texas USA. Soon the city was covered with water. The rising water rushed into the cars on the roads. There were 16 deaths that weekend.

Changing Weather

The weather is changing. Over the last few years heavy rains have caused floods in Brazil Pakistan and Thailand. Droughts (干旱) have hit Russia and Australia. Heat waves have killed thousands in Europe. There are more different kinds of terrible wild weather all over the world. In 2011 alone the bad weather caused the world to lose 150 billion dollars.

As more wild weather events happen a worried world is beginning to ask questions like: What is going on with the weather? And why? Many also want to know: Is this natural or are we to blame (责怪)?

The answer seems to be: a little of both. Wild weather is natural. ________This global (全球的) warming makes heat waves more likely to happen. This means we’re likely to see more wild weather. “But we don’t have to just stand there and take it” says Scientist Michael Oppenheimer. He and other scientists say we need to stop the Earth from getting warmer. We also need to be prepared to do things that will help save lives.
