I’m shy and afraid of starting high scho...

I’m shy and afraid of starting high school. What can I do to get over my shyness and become confident?            ---- lily

Here is some advice which Lily’s classmate gave her

One of the best ways to get over shyness is to practice the things that make you nervous .For example, if you want to make a report in your English class. You should practice speaking out before having the class .If you only speak English in a low voice, you can never improve your spoken English. And you will be nervous when you speak in front of the whole class.(1.)Remember that the more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel.  Rehearsing(预演)is important.(2.)例如,如果你害怕演讲,你应该怎么办?Some people find it helpful to rehearse in front of a mirror(镜子).In this way, when you give a speech, you will feel more confident. You can also join a group that interests you, like a sports team or a dance club .Of course you’ll feel nervous at first----- that’s very normal. You will have a lot to talk about and get more active when you get along with people who have a common interest with you. Then you will become more confident.
