Ten-year-old Obama was one of the only three black students at his school in Honolulu, Hawaii. The young boy didn't look the same as most other students. White girls wanted to touch his hair. The police do many things for us. They help keep our things and us safe. They help keep cars moving safely. They help people out of trouble when these people are in danger. They catch bad people, like criminals to make our society safe. They take care of people who are hurt. Then they see these people get to a doctor.
